Overview of Añada

Añada is a bar and restaurant with a strong Southern Spain (Andalucia in particular) and Muslim Mediterranean influence. Unpretentious, it is plainly a happy place to have good Spanish food in. The staff is good and attentive to details.

Just amazing! We shared some little things off the tasting selection and everything was so full of flavour! The paella for our main was divine, I felt like I was back in Spain. Everything was so fresh. Waitstaff were lovely and so happy to help translate items on the menu. Definitely recommend this place!

Waiter and manager had zero respect for our complaint about value of tasting menu, which I might add was not that tasty. $20 for 8 pieces of lettuce.

2nd time I had a meal here. Service is great, staff very friendly and helpful with clarifying anything on the menu. We chose the $55 9 course taster option.
Top Spanish food, not too sure about the authenticity of actual Spanish cuisine.
Great taste sensations all the same. Great choice of Spanish, beiro, vino.

Dinner here with a group of people, and have to say up front that this was not a good choice for the kind of group I was with, which included older people and young children. Perched on bar stools, and not being able to converse due to the pitch of the music (which varies from pleasant to verging on doof, doof) was not conducive to the occasion.

Were told that we could only order the set menu and were then brought a series of tapas plates with extremely small servings (the jamon was cut so thinly that it was almost too difficult to get the flavor before it disintegrated on the tongue).

The food was generally tasty but for the cost (we had the $55 a head which did not include dessert or coffee), very disappointing and I for one left hungry.
The cheapest bottle of wine that I could see was just under $50, but they did have a nice range of Spanish sherries, many by the glass.

I am sure this cafe would suit some, but in a crowded market for this kind of place, it does not compete well with some much better places around the corner in Smith Street, where you will get a better dining experience at a more affordable price.

Ate here on a visit to Melbourne and had a really good meal. We shared a bunch of dishes between a group of 6, so got to try the lamb brains (overcooked), croqueta (nice), boquerones (tiny and way overpowered by the pickled chilli), rabbit empanadilla (a bit dry but tasty) and eggplant (lovely).

For shared mains we all loved the beef cheeks which was rich and full flavoured, thought the paella was pretty good, the pork belly and beetroot dishes were also enjoyable. Mains were more impressive than entrees.

We had a lovely bottle of tempranillo for about $60 that came recommended by the waitress, and all left having enjoyed the meal, the decor and the service.

Visited Melbourne for the weekend from Sydney, found Anada to be a refreshing change from a lot of Sydney restaurants! Fabulous fresh food, served beautifully great atmosphere, the place was just alive both in food and ambience, service. A great dining experience.

Four visits down the track, this place is still amazing and has surpassed the quality of Movida in our eyes. We like to order our own selection of tapas and racion, this represents great value and the set menu can at times be a little bit stodgy.

The Syrian lentil croutons, eggplant with labne and the signature Shark Bay prawns with pancetta and salmorejo are stunning. Ditto, unintrusive service and a decently priced wine list (love the cheap and cheerful Valformosa Cava Rose NV) make this place a keeper.

Rock up and nab a seat at the bar to bypass the 6.00 pm/8.30 pm two sittings policy.

A noticeable fall in quality since last eating here. Having a tapa at a time allows one to cover a lot of territory, but, unfortunately, unmasks strong similarities in preparation, presentation and flavour.

I looked forward to the goat dish, but what arrived was a small terracotta dish with cold hummus upon which was placed scraps of goat meat which may originally have been flavoursome and hot, but were now rendered cold and therefore inedible. Small place with as many tables cramped in as possible. If they could suspend people from the ceiling, I'm sure they would.

Good range of wine and sherries by the glass, but several bottles had 'moved beyond the point of maximal freshness', to quote Basil Fawlty, and should never have been offered.

I think its overpriced. I think the waiting staff are nice but acknowledge. The food - honestly - was sublime. Utterly wonderful, every dish. The only reason I wouldn't give the food a ten is that I think there should be more "tapas basics" on the menu, at lower cost, and to give more variety. But what is on the menu is wonderful.

First of all the paella had no taste and was over cooked. The pasta under the prawns were bland and disgusting, fairly overpriced. Waiters had no experience in Spanish food, when I asked about 1 of the cheeses on the cheese plate, the waiter replied its taste like coon. Attention Anada please get front of house staff with experience. Will not be going back.
