We have been going to the lagoon a few times a year for many years now and always for our anniversary, we pick the seafood platter probably 80% of the time and up until last sat' night have been very happy with the meal.

For the 1st time we left disappointed, the platter was Way below par and as such way over priced. What has happened here, we don't know, but we are sad to see our favorite restaurant become an also ran.

They happily substitute items we don't like every time at our request
the sakanaki prawns in place of the tempura 1's are a sad mistake, tasteless in comparison as was the squid which was replaced, the addition of a small handfull of greasy small cooked prawns didn't help either, you lost interest after the 1st so so taste of them, most of the rest of the platter was ok but far from up to the usual stds.

Staff were great, kitchen needs a shakeup and for the 1st time we left feeling we paid way too much for what we got.

Went to Lagoon for the first time on New Years Day for lunch. 1st - the parking is a nightmare so get there early and be prepared to hike. We started outdoors, but moved in as it was too windy. Very welcoming, the service was good and the food excellent, most particularly the bugs. We feasted and asked the waiter to leave 1/2 hour between courses which was no trouble.

Watch out for the desserts, very rich and wicked, my well travelled friend said the creme brulee wasn't perfect, but pretty good. We will definitely be back but might leave it until the cooler months, reason: people outside the lovely big windows in almost no clothes, a little offputting when you're eating! Oh, and a special mention for Chris, his welcome and friendliness was a pleasure.

The food was delicious. The tempura prawns, although they look like they were a frozen item were juicy and the batter was lighter than it appeared.

The Barramundi Nick that I ordered went back to the kitchen, not because it was not tasty, the waiter insisted as it did not match the description on the menu. It stated that it was in a coconut sauce with lime and ginger, though it was certainly a cream sauce with no taste of lime or ginger. My meal was replaced with the seared yellow fin crusted tuna and it was fantastic.

One waiter was fantastic, the rest were young and had very little experience and missed many opportunities to serve better. Overall a fantastic lunch and will return.

We had been looking forward to going to the Lagoon for several years now. We thought it didn't quite reach our expectations. The prawn sakanaki was tasteless, the sticky date was just Ok. My husband ordered a cider and they brought us the wrong one, they then convinced us that the one they brought (and opened!) was a better choice. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured maybe we miscommunicated our choice, on the receipt we were billed for the one we chose so we had made no mistake.

As the evening went on the floor staff walked around with a floor plan for the next day rearranging tables. It was very noisy despite the fact it was half empty, the noise being plates, kitchen noise and staff. There was one table with several children that were allowed to run around the restaurant, this was 10pm and not what we expected when we had organised a paid babysitter for our children so we could have a quiet romantic dinner. There was lined stocked in shelves along the corridor to the toilets. The head waitress was insincere.

We travelled from Sydney today to have lunch for my wife's birthday. We decided to have the 3 course lunch time set menu with entree, main and desert. The food was fresh and delicious, staff were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was great ! We will definitely be back again.

Myself and two friends went for lunch today at Lagoon and not one of us had an edible meal. Tempura fish batter extremely thick, dripping with oil, chips limp and also dripping with oil, snapper saganaki burnt and stuck fast to bottom of cast iron pan. We definitely won't be back.

Went there on Saturday night 2 April, 3 couples, and had a ball.I had the chilli mud crab, which was expensive, but I was still eating 30 minutes after the others finished their mains (No waste there!). Some may consider it expensive, but think of where you are, and the food was really good. I see other reviews which are not flattering, and wonder was it just a one off, as we had no issues at all.

On a regular weekday trip from Sydney (Mosman) I expected a lot more from this so called " I Love Sydney 2010 Seafood Award Winner". Dont let the linen tablecloths and beautiful outlook persuade you to eat here. The food is dreadful! Yes I know it is a seafood restaurant, but that's no excuse for the King Island Chicken to be dry and tasteless. Or the Barramundi Nick to have been taken out of a deep freezer. It was the most tasteless piece of Barramundi I have ever eaten. The Tempura John Dory Fillets...sorry again not fresh? More like very average club food.

Although the Woodfired sourdough was warm and they brought us an entire loaf of bread. So good value there. Food delivery was prompt, but then again, from freezer to microwave and a quick pan fry does not cut it for me. And could the waiter clanging plates and glasses on empty tables learn that this is a restaurant - not a club! With enough waiters swivelling around tables you would think they would ask if all was ok. We had trouble trying to grab one and ended up having to walk over to get attention. And where was our optional ground pepper? or salt and pepper for the tables? And a pot of tea with no sugar? I also think its about time they fix the toilet and tap in the ladies toilet. The linen outside of the toilets should be covered. No value for money here. Not a good experience. If you do eat out often, you will not appreciate this place. Such a shame. Oh, and did I mention the flies inside this restaurant!

I had my daughters 18th birthday at the Lagoon and it was amazing. The service, staff and food will be memorable always. Excellent value for money and well worth the trip down to wollongong.

Best mudcrab ever! This place is a great seafood restaurant. The live mudcrab done in the chilli, ginger and garlic sauce was brilliant. Service was pretty good all night and it is set in a great location. All was great besides dessert. We got the chocolate and lemon tarts, both were dry and not all that great.
