Contrary to the previous review, Chefs Choice Does Not use Msg in their food. My mum and I eat here all the time and being a celiac she can't eat Msg or she gets really sick.

The food is tasty and so affordable! No matter how busy it is the food is always out fast and hot as well. As in, burn hot. Be careful with that! The interior is tacky and old but clean. If you need ambience but love the food they have another restaurant in the east end of Wollongong city called Top Choice, same menu but with a nicer interior.

Frankly I like the plastic tables and chairs. Service is speedy and depending on the waitress can be super friendly or really abrupt, but they've never been rude to me. My personal recommendations are san choi bow or salt and spicy tofu for entree, and for mains I recommend tom yum soup, vegetarian chow mein, or honey chicken.

For sharing I recommend a salted fried rice and a mafu tofu hot pot (its not vego). Steer clear of the pork mince and beans.

Just rating the food: Below average Asian. Bland and high in MSG. Very thirsty afterwards. Very stingy with the prawns in the seafood dishes. Cheap. Large servings.

The food is always fantastic when we come here. Geat value for money most main meals costing only $7.50 each. The gailan (asian veggies are sooo fresh) food is always served fast and is always hot. They do get busy though and you could be put on a communal style table if this is not your style get in early. We go as regularly as we can from our mittagong home! Highly recommend the asian vegetables, mongolian, rainbow beef and salty calamari.

This is a great place to eat. If coming with children and want to beat the crowd, come in earlier, they have child seats and the waitress although speak little English are friendly. Very reasonably priced and service fast and efficient.

We were seated in awful seats next to the kitchen (stinking, with gusts of strong wind blowing out of it). Unpleasant, surly waitresses. Would not visit again.

I can unreservedly say that Chefs Choice is easily one of the best restaurants in Wollongong. The staff are friendly and attentive and couldn't be more helpful. As a regular at Chefs Choice, I am always greeted and treated like family and the atmosphere is positive and relaxed whilst remaining courteous and professional. I find that their food is of great quality and value for money. I highly recommend Chefs Choice to anyone.

The choice of food is amazing and the quality is very good, best value in the Illawarra. We take friends there from Sydney and they can't believe the price, especially for 2 young families. The salt n pepper squid is great, great noodle dishes, seafood, vegie dishes plus free green tea at every table. The popularity ensures freshest ingredients...Enjoy!

We either dine in or take away from here once a week. It's great value with most meals only $7.50 with free rice and tea. A huge range on the menu and I've never had a bad meal. Service is super fast even when crowded. Feels just like being in Asia.

First time and quite impressed with the food. Extremely great value for money. Mains are about $8 and tasted similar to many $16 mains from other asian restaurants.
