Gerringong Restaurant at the Mercure Resort Gerringong by the Sea is a contemporary dining space designed with leather and wood textures in rich colours of red, white and chocolate. Dine comfortably as you wish inside the restaurant, courtyard or terrace. The modern Australian cuisine changes by the season in order to gain the best of each season's ingredients and bring our their natural flavours. The chef showcases local Illawarra and Shoalhaven suppliers, including Greenwell Point oysters and locally caught king fish.

We stayed here and enjoyed breakfast each day and a special occassion dinner on the Friday night. The decor is comfortable and warm while still being modern and stylish. Service was fine, though a sharp knife served with a couple of the dishes would have been helpful. The food was lovely and ineresting; prawn entree was very generous and the chocolate "spring" rolls were unique and tasty. All our dishes were enjoyed. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we've experienced with great variety.

I was expecting a little more from this restaurant after hearing the Bellachara Boutique hotel was the place to stay & eat in the area.

Admittedly the starter of mushroom & eschallot pie with creamy pea mash was delicious but the main of pumpkin gnocchi was unfortunately ruined by some eager lemon zesting before it reached our table. It's pretty much all I could taste in the meal. Decided against dessert but they did sound very tempting.

Majority of floor staff are quite young & certainly they try, I won't knock them for that but probably lacking in experience. A large gap in water refills, they didn't top wine up, forgot to come back & take drink orders etc. No big deal but I suppose a restaurant which is fine dining & charging those prices should probably get that right.
