My favourite meal in the whole wide world (short of my mum's creamy chicken and almond casserole) is seafood chowder. After searching high and low for somewhere that will make chowder to my liking, I found a place almost on my doorstep - Q Seafood Provedore at Queenscliff Harbour.
It's served up, rich and creamy, in a cobb loaf. To me, this is the ultimate way to eat it, and was the way I first had it (at Billy Baxter's in Maroochydore, sadly, they no longer make it there). At Q, the soup soaks into the bread, so you scoop out delicious mouthfuls of creaminess, with lovely soggy bread. And there are plenty of crunchy bits of bread as well...so delightful!
I've eaten there several times but I always have the chowder. Today, my chowder only had one prawn in it, whereas my companion had two (well, you notice these things!) Others I've eaten with have enjoyed their meals too, and the coffee is also excellent.

Good food service and atmosphere cannot say much more, we went on a day which was good sunny weather and enjoyed fresh seafood, I'd recommend the awesome fresh Seafood Platter for $65!

Great value, delicious seafood. Gumbo was very tasty but could possibly use a few larger chunks of seafood (e.g. prawns); the generous serving of Portarlington mussels in garlic and cream sauce were excellent, grilled calamari likewise was delicious, king prawns were a fraction overcooked but the sauce was very nice.
OK so you order at the counter, but it means you're also not paying for silver service or super-soft-double-white-cleaned-by-sterilised-hands table cloths. Food took a bit longer than what I expected, but definitely worth the wait. Delicious seafood at cafe prices and not a single toasted focaccia, parma or overpriced quiche monstrosity in sight, yay! Tip: Buy some bread at the counter for extra dipping power.
Can't wait to go back when they get their liquor licence, the fried shrimp in a cone, or wasabi peas (purchased from the shelves) with an ice cold brew will be ace.
