We were 4 people and had garlic bread to share, 4 drinks + mains, for a quite expensive $130. That is a lot to say that that the dough for the pizza (and garlic bread) was very short on salt, if it had any at all. The lasagne was bitter and the best of the 4 meals was described as poor.
The service was slow and while there were more staff than customers, it took over 30 minutes to get our mains. In short, I won’t be going back and I recommend you don’t make the mistake of going at all.
We ended up in Zoolou's after strolling around for a bit on a Friday night. There are definitely much better choices in Cronulla and surroundings. The salmon fettucine were ok, needing some more spices though. The pizzas were not convincing. Service was ok, the ambience not improved with the fact that we were the last customers at 8.30 pm and it was very apparent that everyone was just waiting for us to finally leave the place. Which was not possible in turn as we waited a fair bit for the food. All in all less than average and quite pricey, I won't go back.
Quite overrated unfortunately. Been here 3 times and each time it hasn't impressed. So many other better places to spend your money. If they didn't have so much competition from other restaurants at Caringbah and Cronulla they might do better.
After being turned away from other packed cafes for breakfast on a busy Fathers Day (yes, we should have booked!) we decided upon Zoolou's with some trepidation as it was completely empty. By the time we left, there was quite a crowd, which the understaffed restaurant could obviously not cope with. We saw 3 other tables get up to get their own menus after a long wait, 1 table even walked inside to place their orders!
We were served over-flavoured milkshakes, a smoothie that had no fruit, a pot of hot water with a teabag. Eggs were ok, bacon was burnt and kids' banana pancakes were stone cold. We sent the pancakes back (no apology) and the very same pancakes were returned to the table obviously by way of the microwave (again no apology). Result, rubbery bananas & evaporated maple syrup. We asked for extra maple syrup & explained why (again no apology).
We had to take our own raisin toast from the servery area after watching it sit there for ages, ask for our change to be brought to us (no way were we going to leave a tip!) On the way out we commented to another table - good luck you might get your breakfast for lunch whereupon they promptly got up & left. We did someone a favour! Avoid this one or at least be cleverer than us - why would all cafes on Father's Day be full and this one deserted!!!
We booked a table at Zoolous for 8.30pm on a Saturday night and were treated rudely from the beginning. There were only two of us dining and when we had not been given any menus after ten minutes we proceeded to get our own. I then had to flag down one of the two poorly trained waitstaff after several attempts to order drinks and mains as we were supposed to see a film at 10pm. We got our drinks and no cutlery, and our food did not arrive at all. After an hour and a half we left. Pathetic service, I cannot understand how a business can be run when they cannot keep up with the amount of customers!
A regular diner at this restaurant I would not reccomend going when it is extremely busy as the service can be a little poor at times. I have had mixed experiences at Zoolou's. I tried one of the specials once - garlic prawns and it was dry, tough and quite dissappointing, however the lamb and reef and beef have always been quite nice and the pizzas exceptional! Try the garlic prawn, ham and pineapple or chicken (with sweet chilli, mushrooms and spinich) pizza.
We had a pleasant dining experience at Zoolou's tonight. Food was tasty but not outstanding. Service could have been better, was waiting for the bill and the food to arrive. A friendly cat came to visit us, I think it gave us more attention than the staff. A bit pricey given the quality but more so the service. I'd eat there again but I'd rather use my time to try and find better dining establishments.
Vegetarian Pizza is really tasty. I am surprised by the comments below, I have eaten here twice and each time left happy. The restaurant was full and the staff actually brought in another table for us. The service was friendly. Also enjoyed a Pumpkin pasta dish. The entree took a little long but we didn't mind. My only negative was the entree menu was disappointing. I would go again.
I do not recommend eating at Zoolou's. The service is absolutely terrible. Entree's take forever to be served, with mains even longer. Everyone on my table had ordered a pasta which all came out at the same time (after about an hour) and I had ordered pizza which they had forgotten about completely and put in to cook when everyone else had their food. The staff have no idea what they are doing eg. giving our drinks to another table, and when going to pay the bill even gave us the wrong table's bill. When mentioning this poor service, they refuse to admit it was poor and started defending the place saying they're busy etc. (and it was not even packed out) so overall, I urge people not to dine in this restaurant.
I have eaten at Zoolou's (reluctantly) about 4 times now. Never had a good experience. The food takes over an hour and a half to be served (with other tables arriving after us and being served before us). I was the second person to receive my main meal (out of 11) and knowing how bad the service was, was forced to be rude and begin eating before everybody else was served. Luckily, I had finished my meal and we were still waiting on 3 meals. The lamb I had was tough and not enjoyable. Other times we have had pizza's served with the burnt edges cut off.
When we questioned them about why our food takes so long, we are told that they are very busy. If you can't handle the numbers then don't book the tables. I would never recommend this restaraunt to others. This is not the first bad experience I have had and it seems to be always the same.
