We went to Zippos on a friends recommendation and looking for somwhere new. Unfortunately, from the get go the welcome and service was appalling. We sat for 20 minutes before being offered menus and drinks (other than water). The restaurant wasn't busy but there was a function in an adjoining room.

The food was good when it came, but by the time we reached our mains, we were a bit past it, having filled up on bread. I overhead a lady at a neighbouring table comment that it was a long time between courses so we weren't being picky. Finally, we had to chase staff for a bill and then chase them to pay it! Very sad because the place has a lot going for it. I must add that the wait staff were very pleasant when they attended to us. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

What a great find is Zippo's located on the edge of Kyle Bay. Our evening there was superb, from the personal attention of Emmy and her wait staff to the impressive degustation menu from Chef Kyle, our table was never left wanting for anything. Except, perhaps, for more of Chef Kyle's made at table side Sorbets and Fresh fruit! Could not recommend this slightly hidden away yet city class restaurant enough.

Don't go to Zippos in a large group, food poor, long wait between courses.
Mussels uncooked, chef used damaged mussels, beef was slow cooked, so slow we waited 65 minutes between courses, and beef not cooked, carrots not cooked, food cold and plate cold. Would not recommend to anyone.

A thoroughly enjoyable, fine dining experience. Excellent food, intelligently prepared and presented by Chef Kyle. The service was as faultless as the meal. It was my first visit to Zippo's but it won't be my last.

You cannot go past the wonderful service, the waitresses and Emmy, until the food comes. It is fantastic! Our table had beef, perfectly cooked with wonderfully flavoured purees, mushrooms with foie grais then the special of the day, a bar cod with fennel and kingsfish sides, just magic.

The ambience is great, feeling initmate but not stuffy. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and funny, topped off by the wonderful food. Have been 3 times before with same results. Zippos becomes a staple in our best restaurants for a great night out.

We went to Zippos to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We have been here many times and love the attentive, friendly service and the beautiful art deco decor. Views over the bay helped too. The lamb and scallops were sensational and we were made to feel very special when presented with a lovely cherry desert, not something that we would typically order but my goodness I would certainly order it again. Meat lovers be warned, chef only cooks the beef fillet medium rare or 'cooked through' as chef is 'fussy! If you want it just 'medium' and a little less bloody you will have to order something else. Which I did. All up a lovely evening and we look forward to going again, this time with all the people from work.

If you live in locally you can't go past this restaurant. The food and service and price is excellent. Thanks to Kyle the chief and Emmy and all the staff for making my husbands birthday so special especially the dessert where Kyle prepared the most spectacular dessert at our table. There is no need to travel into Sydney CBD to look for fine dining, it's finally here.

My husband and I are regulars at Zippo's. The menu is fabulous with a great choice on offer, chef Kyle really knows how to present his dishes in an outstanding fashion. The new wine list is very pleasing. The decor is beautiful yet relaxed and comfortable not to mention spacious.

Now for the service, above and beyond expectation. From the warm welcome by Nick and Emmy to the superb service by all staff. Fine dining never gets better. Whether it is a special occasion dinner or a relaxed Sunday lunch overlooking the water, this is the place to go. Well done Zippo's!

We went to Zippo's after hearing from friends that it was a nice place to go for a meal and we were happy to discover that all the glowing reviews are right on the money!

With a great selection of yum entree's it was hard for us to decide what to have. I had the devil soft shell crab and prawns which was crisp and tasty without being too oily or salty. My husband has the Oxtail soup which sounded a bit bland to me but was so delicious with its subtle broth and homemade tortellini.

Our mains of linguini with seafood and eye fillet were sensational and faultless as well as our dessert of cherry ripe bombe. The staff are friendly, entertaining, well trained and easy to talk to. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and not sterile and bustling like some restaurants. We had a wonderful night and will surely be back for several more visits.
