Having read eatability reviews from 2007, my friends and I had changed our plans a few times in the past so as to avoid Zink. But recently another friend organised her birthday dinner and drinks on a Saturday night at Zink, and we were all pleasantly surprised. We were in a large group, across 2 of the high tables with bar stools and one lower dinning table.
Our waitress was friendly and could answer everyones' queries, and the food arrived pretty quickly. When guests arrived late, they could put in their orders quickly too. The haloumi salad was nice, and I tried some of the vego nachos which were also pretty good. Food is a little bit more expensive than what it's really worth. Ambience was relaxed and most of the patrons were in large groups sitting down for dinner. I'd definitely go back with a group for early drinks and dinner before heading out.
This place is nice to get for a quiet meal. The food was nice and the service great. It's very cheap and good value. I wouldn't go here for a meal with my husband but it's good to catch up with friends.
Exceptional service. The best view and great food. Good value. Went there for a function, enjoyed it so much went back for breakfast. Have been many times since. Friends love it and have made it a regular Hot spot for dinner and a drink.
Keep up the great work guys.
Zinc is OK, not bad but not great, the coffee is decent and the food alright, nothing to write home about. They really need to work on the ambience though, it's a bit like a cafeteria inside. Almost impossible to get a front seat if you are not in a large group and you end up in the side bit overlooking the garbage bins (you really should move them owners) and split up the front tables to allow for more smaller groups to enjoy the view too.
My experience at Zink.... Whilst on a holiday in Australia, we visted cronulla, seems as all cronulla cafes are booked out and heavily busy, being refused service and a table at any other cafe, the Zink staff were more than happy to provide their service.
The waitresses were happy and bubbly, the food was beautiful, and we sat for a good hour and a half. The turn over in that hour or two seemed overwhelming, and still the waitstaff smiled and seemed happy to provide their lovely and welcoming service to anyone that wants to chill out on a sunday, enjoy the staffs friendly manner Zink is the place to come. Not to forget the chefs that worked hard that day, food was wonderful, well presented and of great value..
My flat mate and I enjoy the times when we get to catch up with one another. Sunday breakfast is what we enjoy most with exchanging good conversation, laughter and happiness. Unfortunately, after leaving Zink, Sunday 16 September we were in no laughing state. The both of us fell ill. This in turn had us miss out on one of the best sunny Sundays we've had for while.
Not only this but I also have epilepsy and take medication twice daily, past experiences like this have given me two massive tonic-clonic seizures due to my medication not being absorbed. Never again will I come here.
I have been eating out 2-3 days/nights a week for many years as part of my work as a well known mystery diner. I was not working on this particular morning of the "Sutho to Surf" where I came from Ramsgate to spectate the event, decided on breakfast at Zink Bar. Well I must say the atmosphere was great, and the food was nothing spectacular but was "value for money". But the management and table service is a large issue Zink needs to work on.
I was seated on the balcony with a group of friends and the lady that served our group was terrible. I did take into consideration it was a busy morning, however our meals took the best part of an hour, and an extra waitress had to assist our table to finally speed things up. I am sure that by now the management are aware that the blonde "barbie" waitress who might be attractive, but is more concerned if she looks good in what she's wearing than to satisfy her patrons.
Furthermore I witnessed while on my way to the men's room an altercation between two staff members. And shortly realised it was the owner's attempt at a dispute resolution. All of this in full view of customers. To sum this cafe up in short - the food was good, the management leaves a lot to be desired, and the table service needs some touching up.
We are regulars at Zinc bar, Cronulla. From the day it opened we have seen the continual evolvement of this fantastic casual dining/drinking spot. If you want five star service this is not the place for you, but if you want to kick back, relax and enjoy great food, wine & atmosphere at very affordable prices, this is the place to go.
Cronulla has been screaming out for something like this for so long. The continual improvements to Zinc continue to make this a warm, friendly cosy dining place for winter. The menu is continually updated and the specials are to die for. Wines are first class and great value, why pay corkage and byo?? Staff are kind, courtious and always willing to help.
Pretty disappointed when we dined at Zinc a couple of months ago So much so, that even now I'm still inclined to add this review. I ordered from the specials board and received a dish nothing like the description on the board, other than they were both "lamb".
Added to that, our meals arrived separately and I'd finished by the time my partners arrived (and I'm a slow eater). The waitress just couldn't wait to get out of there and finish her shift, and said as much to us. The decor is hard and cold with absolutely no warmth to the place whatsoever, unless you get a table along the balcony and look out instead of in.
I thought maybe we just went there on a bad day, but a couple of friends have since aired their experiences there with us too. Maybe if Michael (the owner - who yes, is good looking but sorry, does not look like Mathew McConaughey) was there running the show it would have been a different story, he has great people skills and knows what he's doing, but, unfortunately, showed up to work as we left.
Might be great for breaky or casual dinner and drinks but don't go there for lunch.
