Nice place to relax and people watching, food is good, service is average to good (depends how busy it is). They do the best buttermilk pancakes in this neighbourhood. Come here at least once a week for breakfast.
Good coffee in the morning with muffins straight out of the oven, a brilliant way to start the day. Hot fabulous soups for lunch and an extraordinary $25 set menu at night. If it were not for all the other eateries in the area, why wouldn’t you spend all day at this friendly little cafe/restaurant?
I had a lovely time here. The set menu was a well balanced and delicious meal that left me feeling satisfied but not over-full. The dessert was the best. Service was excellent and the timing of each course was perfect. I will be back.
We dined at Zinc tonight and it was excellent! I had the $25 set menu of apple and witlof salad (delicious tarragon dressing!), twice roasted chicken with white bean puree and mandarin sorbet, while my partner had calamari, blue swimmer crab linguine and honey pannacotta. Total bill with two glasses of wine was $80. Wonderful value with friendly service and fantastic mid week food!
Have been here for breakfast a few times and really like the food. Baked beans and egg on toast is my fav dish, and they make a decent coffee. Would be great if they had freshly squeezed juices, and if the wait staff were a little bit more professional, but everyone is friendly enough. The place has a nice vibe and generally a good place for a nice breakfast, but getting a table is a little tough on the weekends, so be prepared to wait.
Dinner; three courses in a modern setting in the middle of Potts Point with a well priced wine list for only $25 - unheard of. The serves are generous and are delicious. Keep it up.
My boyfriend took me here for brunch on the weekend, and it was just OK. The food was nothing to rave about, and sadly I must also complain about the service. We waited forever to be served, never got that water we asked for, and the food was average. Don't get me wrong it was a nice meal, I was just expecting a little bit more. Lucky for me what the meal lacked, my company surely made up for.
Every time I go to Zinc I wonder why I keep coming back. It is a real shame that somewhere with such yummy food has such terrible wait staff and I'm surprised that the owners have not done something about it.
My last visit, however, was disappointing, several of my favourites have been taken off the menu, they used to have delicious lamb salad with artichokes, and the lamb sandwich/baguette with bean curd spread was also great but nowhere to be seen on the latest edition of the menu.
Pancakes are usually good but after waiting 35 minutes for our food I was not happy to receive a slightly burnt pancake but was too hungry to ask them to give me a new one and risk waiting another half hour.
They make a great BLT, and coffee is quite good but it is all ruined with sour wait staff who are seldom smiling and always seem too bothered, busy, bored or flustered to serve you.
As usual I paid with my eftpos card and had the receipt off handedly shoved in my direction without even a thank you or a glance in my direction from the waiter who was busy with 'something else'. I usually make a point of leaving a tip as I have been a waitress myself, but on this occasion I put the note I was going to hand over straight back into my pocket.
