Elegant in its décor, innovative in its food and attentive in its service, Zilver opens after a $3 million makeover from its former identity as Silver Springs restaurant on the corner of Pitt Street and Hay Street, next to Capitol Theatre.
As you approach the restaurant, a linear taupe stone concierge greets you as you walk past a gallery of oriental silverware lining the path to the main dining room. A small sleek bar with low back lounge chairs acts as a waiting area for guests on a crowded night.
Stone-cladded fish tanks display live fresh seafood and a wall, with modern timber lattice screens lining one side of the walls and reflective mirrors lining the other side. Bronze mosaic pillars create textural contrast, accented by imported lotus-shaped crystal chandeliers suspended from the ceiling.
Custom-made upholstered silk chairs in copper tones complement latte tone tablecloths and pure white china, elegant glassware and hand-tooled cutlery specially sourced from China.

I have been to this place numerous times for work related gathering although I dislike the restaurant practices. Firstly, ladys who serve dim sums are very pushy and would give you double portions when you only ordered one. I find that I always have to say no.
Also, you need to check your bill. I get free tea offered to me, however, when I check the bill I get charged for another item. I asked the waiter what the additional charge was for, and he told me that its for the sauce, table cloth etc. Tea is normally charged at $1.50 per person. What I find dodgey is that if they charge you for tea, they will not charge you for this table cloth service. So either way, you have to pay these additional unfair charges.
They also allow people to smoke (under "special circumstances" like weddings).

Best Dim Sum in Australia. But when the waiter bumped our table and spilled our drink everywhere, there was no replacement. We asked for soy sauce but none came. Hence, we rate the service as 'awful'.

I came here because my girlfriend had suggested that I give this place a shot. The waiting staff is surly and overbearing. Presentation of the food is a shame although portions are sufficiently large. Others are in a mess. The plates are chipped and dishes are not exchanged for fresh ones after a messy dish. The teapots are not clipped with a drip stopper resulting in a wet mess on the table cloth after a few refills.
Waiting staff makes little effort to clear the dishes after they are piled a mile high on the table. After we finished our brunch at 11.30, we saw a queue of 20 people deep and I wonder why? Is the yum cha scene that sad in Sydney that diners would queue to overpay for sub standard food?
Our fellow reviewers here should really go somewhere else for yum cha. If you have had the chance to try yum cha in Hong Kong and Singapore, you would not come here, ever.

Been here quite a few times for yum cha. The food is good, especially the braised chicken feet and seafood prawn roll. All other yum cha dishes is average to good.
Waits during the weekend is very long especially after 11 am.

Yum cha was ok, the prawn dumplings were not fresh. A bit overpriced for small portions.

Great place for Yum cha in Sydney. It gets very busy so don't go here for a romantic meal for 2. Fast sometimes almost frantic service. Try not to get flustered by the chaos and sit back and take it all in.
Great service and variety of dishes. Fresh tasty and moreish food everywhere.
Really enjoy taking the whole family here for the experience.
Well priced. They need to work on their table booking/waiting procedure.
You need to muscle your way to a small lady at a podium get a raffle ticket and wait for you number to be called. Sometimes get hard to hear and understand her .
We waited for only 15 mins at 1:00pm to get a tabel for 7 so wasnt to bad. Great yum cha and fair pricing. Gets my thumbs up approval.

I visited here many times for Sunday Lunch. It was a long queue as all foods were always nice. My flavour dish is a prawn dumpling, salt and pepper prawn and steam Chinese broccoli. “They are very tasty.” However, service is very disappointing as some waitress couldn’t speak English very well. I recommended this is a good place to have lunch on the weekend.

Quite disappointed with the lack of quality. The meat in one of the dishes was poor tasting, maybe it was off?! Service was quite poor too, won't be coming back here again.

Don come here for yum cha, the place is so noisy we can't hear ourselves talking on the same table. The food is over priced and the dished are small. The litte yum cha trolly girls can't even speak proper english and they end up just lifting the lids and you can't understand them, to make matter worse they are so slow and you have to wait forever to get food. My mate was shocked when he got the bill so expensive and after waiting 10 minutes too!
