Very disappointing for a restaurant apparently well known for its pizza's.
Food, the pizza was under cooked and the toppings were minimal. Ordered the Zia Pina Pizza which was tasteless and all you could taste was dough.
Value for Money, far from it considering the quality of the food. Pizza was over priced. Probably better off heading to the Pizza Hut for a tastier feed.
We called in at opening one Saturday evening, we were disturbed to see some Reserved Signs on several tables despite being told earlier in the week that at that time reservations could not be taken. The service was casual to the point of being disinterested and the food was worse. Two of us had pasta and that was clearly a bad choice, the cannelloni was like leather and the filling was flavourless and lukewarm, the napolitana sauce on the spaghetti was thin and also lacking flavour. Conversely the other member of our party had pizza which was reportedly quite good. A poor experience overall. Stick to the pizza!
Zia Pina is a buzzy little pizzeria in a great spot. My friends and I spent hours upstairs eating and drinking. Hot night with the windows open to let in the cool breeze from the harbour. The atmosphere is hectic and busy, the service very attentive and fun. House wine for $20 (the red they offer as house is yum at the moment). Crispy pizzas with so much variety and plenty of wine. What a great night out. I agree with the previous reviewer. It is what it is, a pizzeria and a very busy one at that. Enjoy it. Its great!
Those previous reviewers obviously haven't heard of the saying "Cheap and Cheerful!" You have to give this place credit for what it is.
Where else in the middle city can you share a garlic bread, pizza, pasta and house wine for $20 each. This place is a great little find (although many many other have also discovered it by the size of the permanent cue out of the door!) and has become a regular first stop in our girls nights out!
The atmosphere is always fun and lively with every seat in the house always taken. It's probably not the place to take the in-laws, but perfect for a casual bite with friends. All those other reviewers really need to lighten up and enjoy the lively atmosphere that comes close the buzzing pizzerias of Roma!
Worst experience in a restaurant I have ever encountered. I came here to celebrate my graduation dinner last night. My family and I got seated next to a window, it had been raining and there was a cold breeze coming through. A waiter came and opened the window all the way up, turned on the fan and proceeded to turn up the airconditioning, it was ridiculous! I went and closed the window halfway down and when another waiter came along I thought he was going to pull the window back up.
I told him I was cold and he snapped rudely "Don't worry I'm not touching the window" then preceded to curse under his breath. Shortly after another waiter came along and reopened the window. I had to sit there in the cold. We asked for drinks and they delivered half the drinks and didn't bring the beer and water. We had to ask TWICE for the water and straws, and they only gave us glasses for the people who hadn't ordered other drinks even though we asked for water for everyone.
The meals were so small it was insane. The waiter took our empty water bottle and replaced it with a half filled water bottle from another table whose diners had already left. Anything additional we had asked them to bring was such a hassle for them to do. I wonder if management even knows the waiters there are so rude.
Never again will I dine at this place and it ruined a night in the day which was meant to be a big occasion in my life.
Well, this place has had better days. We used to come here at least once every 2 weeks when we both worked in the city. Went back here this weekend after a year and I'm afraid that we won't be coming back.
We had our order taken quickly and then waited while others got their steaming hot pizzas. And then waited some more... we finally got our pizzas they were cold and disappointing. The vege pizza only had onions and 2 pieces of capsicum on it. The margarita was too thick and too cheesy.
We used to come here to have pizzas that reminded us of Venice, yesterday's pizza reminded us of Domino's at West Ryde.
Typical tourist place, not expecting customers to come back. When I told the waiter that it was the worst pasta I ever had, he replied: "Thank you". I said, sorry, I said it was the worst pasta I have ever eaten and again, he replied: "Thank you".
This restaurant is a piece of crap. I'm not sure if it was just a bad Saturday night, but there seems to be more negative reviews on this page than good ones. We got seated very quickly, and orders were taken within about 15 minutes of sitting down.
Wine came out quickly but we literally waited about 30 minutes before the really soggy garlic bread was brought out. When asked when it will be coming, the staff member got snappy and told us to wait..though we had for a very long time. Then another 30 minutes and a pizza that we paid $19 for (!!) arrived, looking like something that had been delivered by pizza hut (or something worse).
