Tried it out because of the reviews on this website. Very nice (although I was expecting spectacular but reminds me never get your hopes up!) Anyway, nice food, great taste and service. Found the portions too small. I'd recommend it for a intimate night out.
Second time at Zeffirelli, however, was not as impressed with it as I was the first time. Had requested an inside table for 4 because they allow smoking at the outside tables. After a few minutes of being seated we felt it was too hot inside so we requested to be moved. They didn't mind doing this. Had the anchovies on Bruschetta for entree.
Expected it to be served on bread as thats is what I understand bruschetta to be, however, was just served on just the chopped up tomato. It was pretty bland. Had to ask for some salt so that I could give it some flavour. For main I had the seafood pasta. Enjoyed it, however, it was too salty. For dessert had the tiramisu which was the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, while we were having our meal 3 women sat at the table next to us as started smoking.
The other people I was with had the lamb cutlets which they said were very tasty. One had the stuffed calamari which I sampled as regretted ordering the anchovies. I would certainly come back to Zeffirelli as it is far better in terms of values and quality than the restaurants around the corner in Darling Harbour and Cockle bay.
Quality food overall with everything to our liking. The portions were slightly backwards for us in that mains were too small, I would have preferred another piece of the fantastic Pork Belly special, and starter of Tuna was twice as big as needed for such a wonderful taste. Service was perfect. Enough presence to be needed but no annoying critiques when your mouth is full. A return when menu changes is already planned.
Went there based on the reviews on here. Found it good, but not amazing. Appetiser of asparagus and prosciutto was not quite to my liking. Main of Snapper and seafood was fine, but nothing exceptional. Tiramisu dessert was delicious. Overall worth a try but will not rush back.
Do not go here if you expect to be full after eating. The food is tasted to perfection.. however for mains $30+ you would be expecting a little more on your plate. If you are planning on going here, have entree, mains and desserts. Service, taste and ambience are all great.. value leaves something to be desired.
We went here for our wedding anniversary dinner. I had the figs with gorgonzola cheese and proscuitto and it was perfect. Never in my life would I have chosen this combination, but it was sensational. My husband had the white rabbit sausage with polenta, and he enjoyed it too. For main I had the pork belly, and hubby the cutlets, both were delicious, and the dessert was a chocolate pudding, which was very rich but great. The staff were lovely, and attentive, but not too attentive to be annoying. The only issue we had was both of the waitresses had very thick accents, which at times were hard to understand. But overall it was a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely go back.
Our family had a wonderful meal here. We had the seafood spaghetti, pork belly with crackling, peppered sirloin and beef ravioli, tiramisu and strawberry souffle - the souffle was a tiny bit oversweet but the rest were utterly fantastic. I'd never heard of Zeffirelli before but was so impressed with the food and reasonable prices that it's on my list of favourites. The simple decor and uncrowded atmosphere were also a plus.
As it's just around the corner from our office, it's become "the place" to take clients. The service is friendly but professional and the food is always good. The menu is always full of the season's best produce.
The prices reflect the menu. But best of all, they have a lunchtime special of a choice of 6 or so dishes and a glass of wine for under $20!
