Overview
Zachary's is located in the hub of Kings Cross on Bayswater Road and has been awarded ‘Best Restaurant’ in 2007, 2006 & 2005 at the Kings Cross Food & Wine Awards, ‘Outstanding Bar’ winner in 2006 and finalist in 2007 at the City of Sydney Business Awards.
A sophisticated city-bar with suburban relaxation, muted lighting, cosy lounges and rich, timber finishes, Zacharys is a friendly, no attitude, casual environment where you can hang out and relax in the heart of Kings Cross. With late night trading and various areas available for private use Zachary's is ideal for groups, parties and events. At Zacharys there is no need to rush, as both bar and kitchen stay open throughout the night (3am on Friday and Saturday).
Considering its location beside World Bar and across the road from Hugo's Zachary's is an oasis in the trashy mayhem that can be Kings Cross on a Friday or Saturday night! This place offers great food as well as a laid-back funky environment with the potential for a whole lot of fun to be had! I've been there on both a weekend, where the vibe is buzzy and fun, as well as weeknights where I was able to just sit back and enjoy a yummy pizza and cocktail, both of which were of a great standard and much cheaper than other nearby venues! Definitely worth checking out!
This is a great place and I keep coming back time and time again. The atmosphere is chilled and relaxed, the cocktails are great and food is fantastic. Value for money is very good also (especially if you go on all you can eat Thursday!). This is the perfect place to go with a group of friends, where you can relax, eat good food, have some drinks and talk.
Overall, the staff are very friendly, though on occasion some of the bar girls have been a bit snappy. The two owners, however, are always extra friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking to go out with a group of friends for a catch up!
Horrific is the only word I could use to describe this place. I have been to Zachary's on a Tuesday on many occasions but this has got to be the worst. The service was slow, rude and obnoxious. The food quality had dropped significantly since I last visited. The toppings on the pizza was hard to see and the pizza base felt like Lebanese bread. The chicken wings were undercooked or burnt and had no flavour. I hyped this up to the group that I took and was thoroughly embarrassed.
Found the lack of table service surprising given there were at least 3 idle wait staff standing around to show us our table. Thought the food was great, hats off to the chef, but we were amazed after finishing our meal that we couldn't order coffees - apparently the only restaurant in town without a coffee machine! We decided, overall, that we would not go back.
Great place where you can always get a great feed late at night. One of the best things about this place is seeing the owners working in the bar all night. Best to book if you have a group or you may have to wait a while for a table.
I think people are getting too excited about this place it's really just a pub which serves pizza with interesting toppings. You order at the bar, take your number on a stand to sit around semi-communal tables and pay prices which aren't much higher than inner city takeaway joints and cafes. Decent casual hang out, pretty dead mid week but lively at weekends. It's not worth getting hung up on service or food quality - it's just a pub!
I’ve just discovered this website and came across Zacharys, I have been going there for a while now, I enjoy the venue, the food and beverages are delicious, the prices are reasonable and the staff welcoming.
I have the following comments: You have to order at the bar and it is clearly written on the menus. Not always desirable as I prefer table service (at least they bring food to table) but not having to split the bill in a big group is definitely a positive.
Meals can sometimes be slow to arrive but when dining with friends, who is in a rush? When I’m in a rush, I’ll let the staff know. It comes down to communicating to your hosts. Staff are alittle laid-back but are helpful and friendly. I work in hospitality and not the easiest job. Serving patrons for long hours is demanding and tiring… Most hospos are 18–28yr olds who study or travelling and are simply there for money (average $20hr), not love.
If you think about this when you step into any venue, it is clear why some staff don’t seem so eager.... Tipping goes a long way. The All you can eat is a good deal… Also being able to eat a healthy meal (with a dirty vodka martini just the way I like it) at 2 am after I’ve finished a shift is probably one of the reasons I like this place so much.
And finally, its Kings Cross, if your wallet got stolen you can't blame anyone else but yourself.
