We went there with my partner as our anniversary. Service was excellent and friendly, also we enjoyed good food esp. Yakitori was outstanding. We will definitely return for the service and food.

This place definitely lived up to expectations, with excellent food, friendly service and a relaxed ambience. Having been to many Izakaya in Japan, I think this is as close as we get in Sydney, the only thing missing was tatami flooring to sit on.

The style is for a constant stream of snacks while drinking (like tapas), so you might find the service a bit casual if you expect synchronous delivery of individual meals. Pricing wasn't cheap, but quite manageable for the great quality on offer, and Way better than you get for Spanish tapas in this city.

Great little Japanese place. Nice little yard you can sit out on. Presentation, the taste and the volume of the food was great. Best of all the service was spot on. We weren't rushed to eat 5 dishes at the same time and didn't have to race to finish our meal. We actually got to take our time and enjoy each dish. The waiter even offered to take a group photo for us!

My favourite dish is 'Karaage Chicken' It is Japanese deep fried chicken.
Definitely going back!

Recommend by a friend of this new Japanese sake place. The sake was fantastic as well as the food. A waiter give us some sake tasting before we decide what we want from the sake list. All food goes very well with the sake we chosen. Salmon carpaccio was the best. Will be back for sure!

Horrible horrible horrible! Food was average at best and service was appalling. Waiters were inattentive, it took 15 minutes to get a menu, and in the end, over 2 hours to get six dishes out.

We were forced to send our two eggplant dishes back as they were putrid, completely inedible. The waiter took these back without an apology, acknowledgement or offer to order something else.

The dining experience was declared a outright failure when one of the two waiters began taking photos of the dining room rather than serving any diners. (Oh dear)..

Overall, a horriblly disappointing dining experience. My advice is to avoid this restaurant at all costs!

OMG! Prepare yourself for amazing food, service and ambience. Will be going back again.

Y2 is simply amazing.

Food: Prepare your tastebuds to be delighted from many many small dishes of well prepared meals. Ask the staff for recommendations.

Ambience: The place looks amazing, is well setup and feels so relaxing.

Service: While English is not the first language of the staff, they are really friendly, very fast, and really happy.

Value: While it is not the cheapest place in town it is very good value for money. You get a lot more than pay for. Completely worth the tip.

The oyster shots are the best and so is the soft shell crab. Japanese/asian tapas at its best.

I can't believe we've got this quality and service so locally. We love Japanese food and have travelled far in order to try out new places, but I have to say, this would be one of the best, if not The best that we've come across.

It's not your usual bulk standard Japanese menu, but offers a variety of unusual, but absolutely delicious dishes. We'll definitely be back. I recommend booking as we were lucky to get a table.

Wonderful! Amazing food and the owner Takeshi is a great guy. I have hired out the venue for my 30th I like it that much. You must get the Wagyu beef.
