Not a happy customer here, I love authentic Vietnamese food, the soup and everything is very bland, tastes like water and noodles. Will not come here again!
Food is simple and tastes alright although a bit on the bland side. I prefer the places in Cabramatta and Canley Vale, which taste more authentic and are cheaper. But at Xic Lo the decor is better and is probably the best Vietnamese you're going to get in the city.
This unassuming looking café serves a brilliant clear egg noodle soup with crispy skin chicken on the side. Worth visiting for that alone, though the Summer rolls are great too. Cheap & cheerful, good food and free green tea on all the tables. Can't speak for the authenticity, but it seems like good food to me.
This place is great. I'm not picky or fussy at all so found this place great. This is real Vietnamese food (not a western thing on the menu). My fave is the Vermicelli Salad with Spring Rolls. And try the Winter Rolls. Service is average - but who cares - you don't go for the service - you go for the food - it's great!
Went to this because the one we normally go to were fulled. The beef noodle soup/chicken noodle soup were pretty plain and lukewarm. But I am mostly dissatisfied with the services. The waitresses were rude and unattentive. We didn't enjoy the whole meal. will not go back again!
Found this vietnamese restaurant very very average. Service was as you would expect from a vietnamese restaurant, chairs were uncomfortable. Food was a reasonable price but i found it very boring and bland. I had peppered beef with rice and the beef was not peppered flavoured at all, unlike many other vietnamese places i've dined at.
My boyfriend had pho and the stock they used was very uneventful as well.
For a quick craving of vietnamese in the city, it's good for a quick fix.. however if you want more authentic, flavoursome food for cheaper, definitely head out west towards Bankstown and Cabramatta.
Cheap and cheerful Vietnamese food when you are after a quick bite. I frequent this place fairly regularly and have never found the staff to be rude or the soup to be lukewarm. You can always be in and out of this place in under an hour - the food comes out that quickly!
Bun Bo Hue has to be my all around favourite. Hands down, Xic Lo's got this one spot on. Skeptic as I may have been, had to try it out sometime, and I must say, it ain't exactly traditional but is that necessarily a bad thing? Contemporary eatery, quick quality service and decent views out look Haymarket, thrown my way in the perfect bowl of pho! Xic Lo's the way to go, bar none. I've found a good home for every lunch break!
I've eaten here a few times and really like it. I'm a vegetarian and pretty careful about where I eat and this place checks out OK. Love sitting at the big window and watching life on the street. Prices are good (ie cheap) and found the staff to be very nice. The complimentary tea is good. Vegetarian spring rolls are excellent, probably too much for 1 person if you are also planning a main. Luckily I had someone to share with.
