I went to Why Thai for lunch. The dishes were fresh. For a lunch serving, the portion size was quite generous. I couldn't finish it all. Staff was friendly.

I've eaten at Why Thai on several occasions. The perennial penchant for cutesy names for Thai restaurants shows the folly of such customs at this establishment: asking a rhetorical question.

Why Thai indeed. The portions tend to be on the smallish side comparatively, which is alright if you're serving quality dishes. There's a nagging sense that the proprietors are trying to scrimp and save. The difference my co-eaters and I had between our respective dishes, for example, lay in the sauces only: the same vegetable medley made up most of the mains ordered. The meats tended to be dry and came in smallish pieces.

The service was on the edge of being good, but little things keeps it in the "efficient, but indifferent" category. A small thing, too, but the restaurant itself is loud and pretty uncomfortable. Finally, while I understand that the restaurant caters more of a student and worker crowd, this should be reflected in the relative cost of the meal. It is not.

My mother used to tell me as a boy not to ask questions that I really didn't want the answers to. Something for the owners to consider.

Went to Why Thai on a whim one Saturday night as the usual was closed and was pleasantly surprised! Shared the mixed entree (of which curry puff and spring roll were best) and mains were chicken cashew nut (amazing, one of the best I have ever had) and padthai. It's byo but corkage is not much. Will happily return again, especially for the chicken cashew nut!

Great food, especially the seafood dishes, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The staff (particularly Napa!), are fantastic with our 8 year old daughter.

The best Thai in the Eastern Suburbs. Friendly service and delicious food, very flavoursome and the serves are plentiful! Better take your appetite!

I used to love this place and be a regular customer (at least 2-3 times a week) until I had a very disappointing experience.

Food is pretty good as well as the value, noise is average. Servicewise, I always liked a waitress (a lady with short hair-very polite and seemed to know what she was doing) and I always hated the other waitress, she always dragged her shoes making a very unpleasant noise as well as always an angry face (I tried not to care, but it constantly bothered me, yes, it really did, but all in all, I became again a happy person with the other waitress)

One day, I ordered chilli basil dish as usual but I found it extraordinarily salty. I sent it back, and I got my new dish relatively shortly and realised it was the old dish with a bit watery sauce. My tofu was not crispy and nice anymore as it was cooked twice. Just disappointed. I didn't even have a bite, I just paid, walked away and never went back.

It's more like a personal feeling and disappoinment about the way being treated(yes, I was a regular customer that the lady always recongnised when walking in). but still, as a general rule, you can never reuse the food items that have been sent back to the kitchen. I was disappointed that they didn't have the common sense.

The best vego thai that I have tasted. They have a full vegetarian menu with soy product subsitutes that are very tasty. I've had the 'chicken' cashew and also 'chicken' chili basil. Also love the papaya salad.

We love Why Thai! The food is traditional, fresh, authentic and most importantly tasty! The service is quick and easy, eat in or take-away and the food represents great value for money. We thoroughly recommend Why Thai for a quick and very yummy mid-week meal.

Went here on a Saturday night to get take away as the line at Tum's & Taste of Thai seemed very long. A few people in the restaurant and only 1 couple waiting for take away. Well after waiting over 50 mintues for my take away of satay sticks, spring rolls, beef in satay sauce and boiled rice was very disappointed. Noticed that the rice and entrees were on the counter for over 10 mintues while they remembered to cook the beef in satay sauce, which arrived without any sauce. Very dry and bland. Very overpriced for what it was.

Noticed that the tables started to fill and the staff seemed to have no idea. It appeared that unless a customer asked where their food was nothing was served to them. I left to a swarm of people demanding food and their money back. If I hadn't have paid up front I would have left. Definitely will never, ever go back there again.
