First few times we enjoyed quality fresh food, in particular the seafood two tier platter for two, albeit the service was less than attentive.
Unfortunately, the last couple of times, both mid week were nothing short of appalling. Food was not fresh, tasteless and the service frustrating. To our disbelief on both our last two visits we gave up on trying to order coffee and dessert and if we hadn't stood up to pay the bill at the register, we would most likely still be there. Disappointing, we won't be bothering again!

Came here after reading the good reviews. The tapas dishes I ordered all came together on one plate, which was a bit off putting. The wait staff were warm and friendly, but not very switched on. Our waiter looked like 17, so we can't expect much more.

However, the food turned out to be quite good. My wife enjoyed her salmon very much. The ambience was nice. Unlike some tapas restaurants that could be frentic, Wild Fig was not very wild, but comfortable and calming, despite having a full house. The fig ice cream lives up to high expectations. All-in-all, a suburban gem and worth returning to.

Standards are slipping guys! I was impressed last time I came when it just opened. I really enjoyed the homemade chips and bread and butter pudding.

Recently I had the same items. Bread and butter pudding tasted sour, I think it was off! The chips were blobs of oily potatoes! C'mon guys, don't become complacent.

An absolute gem! Organised a dinner here as a catch up with friends as it is quite a central area between the city and the shire and when we left we had already made plans for another catch up at the same place. The restaurant itself is lovely inside. It is trendy and well fit out but still welcoming.

The tables are not squashed together like in many places so that you feel you are intimate with your companions. The staff are attentive but unfussy....they do all the jobs well but don't lure around your table with more menus at dessert time or topping up water when you take a sip.

The menu is very well balanced for a range of tastes. The wine list also offers a good range and is not overpriced. We shared 2 tapas plates as an entree. The mushrooms with garlic feta were brilliant...so tasty and morish. The octopus was soft and melted in your mouth. They were small but the quality and flavour was well worth it. We shared 2 pizzas and a salad for our mains. The pizzas were absolutely beautiful, the base was fresh, soft and chewy and the toppings well balanced and flavoursome.

For dessert we had the gelato, however, all of what was on offer sounded great. All in all, everything was delicious, the food was well timed and the value was superb, ended at about $30 each, which for 3 delightful courses and a bottle of wine, is fantastic, can't wait to go back!

This is the second time we have dined at Wild Fig but on the first occasion, we took up the Mezze platter deal on a Tuesday which was probably a rookie mistake and I would be reluctant to do again. Just thought it was a tad overpriced for the amount of food served (although the food itself was really good) but I shan't dwell on that, as the most recent outing was extremely enjoyable.

Unfortunately, patronage was a little low on this mid week occasion but I guess that's what happens on a brisk winter evening in June but the way Wild Fig is set up, I think on a busy night the ambience would be greatly improved. Vegetable rice balls from the Tapas menu was ordered first up and these were particularly nice and with 5 in the serve, it was plenty for an entree to share.

Mains of the chorizo pizza and the char-grilled platter were also ordered. The food at Wild Fig is pretty exciting stuff and both meals were delicious. The chorizo pizza in particular was sensational and is extremely good value. Our waiter was very attentive during our visit and very helpful when questions were asked about some of the dishes.

Anyway, it's a very nice place and well set out, I suspect on a Friday or Saturday night it would draw a pretty decent crowd and I think that would be a sight to see. The food at this place is great and I think it represents a very viable option for both couples or larger groups. Definitely one to keep in mind when the warmer months come around!

We dined at wild fig last weekend. Fresh, lovely food, our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the owner paid extreme attention to ensure we left the restaurant satisfied. A very good experience overall, we will be back!

    Updated review:

    Standards are slipping...

Food not as good as it started out, and the vibe is waning. It also didn't help that the air-conditioning was left off all evening (cost-cutting?).

    Let's hope it's just a temporary blip!

(My original review from August 2010)

"This used to be a fairly drab Italian restaurant but has been tastefully renovated and redecorated and has a really good vibe. I had dinner here (party of 5), we shared a number of the tapas and also shared a main, salad and a garlic pizza.
The food was really tasty and fresh. With friendly staff and very competitive prices this place is now on my list of favourites!"

My wife and I dined hear 2 wks ago and absolutely loved it. Fresh, lovingly prepared food in a stylish and comfortable interior. We had a number of tapas items and a plate of mixed meats as well. It was all excellent with maybe the scallops being the stand out. The staff are very warm and the owner clearly loves what she does. I would highly recommend dining here and we will be back for sure.

We had several choices from the tapas menu and all were very tasty and generous in quantity. There were no tapas specials the night we went and in this area, perhaps, the chef could look at being a little more adventurous with combinations of flavours as well as the tried and true serves, eg plate of haloumi by itself. That said, the service was terrific, very friendly and prompt, and the meal was excellent value.

I tried the Wild Fig with my husband and both our parents and everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious, everything. The squid tapas was exceptional, as was the bread and butter pudding for dessert, just amazing. Everyone at the table said that it was the best squid we'd ever eaten, anywhere. I really can't flaw the food, the only thing was that the chips weren't crunchy but hey they still delicious.

The service was good, the girls were all lovely and friendly. The only 1 hiccup was when we tried to order sparkling wine which they said they had but just couldn't find. Oh well, we just ordered something else.

The ambience was good, very cosy and nicely decorated with a contemporary feel. There was a table of ladies celebrating a birthday and they had a cake delivered to their table. The whole restaurant chimed in and sang happy birthday which was really fun and nice, it was a great vibe.

Very good value for money I feel. We are going back this week!
