I went to the White Horse recently for one of their wine dinners. A fantastic night! The food was excellent and the value amazing. It was a three course meal matched to the wine of the night, being Majella. The wine maker was there to talk us through the wine. We sat at tables of 10 with others we did not know, which was a lot of fun. The service was excellent with the staff being very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be back!

The atmosphere of this establishment is arrogant without cause. The general maintenance of the place is appalling, and when dining, there really is no excuse for a cockroach being anywhere near your food, let alone the table you're eating off.

The staff are hardly inspiring, and with such great bars and restaurants up and down crown street, without that there seems little reason to bother. Prior to visiting, my partner and I looked at the website to have a gander on what was on the menu and which cocktails we would have to try but on arrival realised that the website is completely out of date, not only the menu, but the cocktail list too, filled with novelty, amateur entertainment, and uninspiring gimmicks to pull a crowd in during the week, shows they are obviously struggling to stay afloat.

Had a work lunch here on a Monday. 18 people all well looked after by the staff despite a couple of seating hiccups and a deep fryer on the blink. Meals were ok and reasonably priced. Burgers were a big hit, steaks were nice but not cooked as requested (medium rare is not well done), risotto was a little bland, while the greek salad had chilli in it?

Drink prices a little on the expensive side, but overall, not a bad venue for a group get-together. But be warned, despite pre-odering there were no split bills even though they were supplied with a detailed list of who had what meal! A special mention to the staff who were both friendly and accommodating.

Our favourite place to go on a Friday night. Good food, good service, friendly hosts welcoming you in. The outdoor terrace is nice and always packed and they have $3.50 Coronas on a Friday afternoon, where else in Sydney can you get a cheap beer like that, not even a schooner these days! The pizzas are pretty good and most meals average price around $14-15. I have been to an engagement party here before too and the function room was great and apparently not pricing either! Well worth a visit!

This place has pub food but it's done quite well. I certainly like the food much better than lots of other pubs in Surry Hills. What I particularly like is that I can get a really good steak and chips, with Jus, for only $10. The other items on the $8-$10 lunch menu are quite good and eating upstairs, outside pleasant. This isn't fine dining, but for the price, really well done.

The seared swordfish and atlantic salmon were fantastic. It just a pity we had to wait about 40 minutes for our meals to arrive.

Do not touch the lunch specials. Stick with the burgers and pizzas only and you should be fine. Service was friendly but slow.

Dropped in for a casual Tues nite dinner, and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the angus beef eye fillet was. Great value if you have the Entertainment book but slightly overpriced otherwise. Will not be shy to try more from the menu next time I'm there for a drink.

OMG, I'm reeling after my meal. I paid $22 for a main consisting of 8 ravioli's on a plate the size of a small European nation but with the serving insufficient to satisfy an anorexic!! While I didn't expect The White Horse of 'Crown Street' to cater to the average person, I didn't expect they only had starving starlets in mind when it came to serving size!

Yes, I just bought a takeaway fried rice from a reliable joint located just down the street.
