Wharf Teppanyaki is the newest and largest teppanyaki table in Australia. Overlooking Darling Harbour, Wharf Teppanyaki features 12 cooking stations and seating for up to 46 people.
At Wharf Teppanyaki we cook in a traditional Japanese teppanyaki style. Part of the allure is to watch the chef’s knife and cooking skills while your meal is being expertly prepared. Whether you are seated as a couple or in a group, you are involved in all the action as your menu is cooked to order.
Our Head Teppanyaki Chef, Nyoman Suarta, has created a variety of inspiring set menus with prime Australian produce including rock lobster, king prawns and wagyu beef and a la carte options, to ensure you experience the very best of teppanyaki dining.

I came here with a spreets voucher and was quite worried that voucher equals bad food and bad service. I was wrong on both counts. Though y only gripe is that they wanted to charged cake-age if I brought birthday cake, its a $5 pp charge. Everything was pretty good though that being said.

We dined here using a spreets voucher and it was well worth it.
The food was fresh and really tasty. The beef was perfectly cooked. Everything was nice. The service was great and they accommodated our dietary requirements even though we are using a discount voucher.
The only drawback I can think of is that the portions are small. If I paid full price for them I would consider it a really expensive place. However, using the voucher made it reasonable.

I don't usually write reviews, but I have never yet seen so many negative reviews that have got it wrong.
1. If you go on a voucher, surely you must expect to turn up at a non-busy time. Of course you will wait if you turn up at 8pm on Saturday.
2. I am a huge eater and did not need to go to McD's afterwards.
3. Quality? I did not see "crabsticks" everywhere and too much mayonnaise or pre-made Sushi. Everything was spectacular on this street.
4. Price ? Well look at the the site. Compare with other restaurants with this spectacular view. The rents must be astronomical. If you want cheap Japanese in Sydney there is plenty to choose from.
5. Service. We went at 5:30 Saturday. Service impeccable, extremely pleasant, and very efficient.
6. Gourmet / degustation. The restaurant has never advertised Degustation - it is not on their websites. It is some of the vouchers that say this. The dishes come out in a normal Asian way, some together - some separate.

To charge so much and get it so wrong. I have never been motivated to write a review but the lack of service, sheer price and disregard for our party of 9 booking, including 4 children for Father's Day was the worst dining experience I have ever had. We booked for 6 pm and our order was not taken until 7, we did not leave with our kids until 9:45 on Sunday night!
We ordered 2 bottles of wine and mineral waters, drinks for kids and beers, the waitresses poured our drinks once and then forgot about us entirely, no wine, water refills and had to go to bar to re-order kids drinks. This is not a inexpensive restaurant, so to be so entirely ignored was not acceptable.
Our food quality was fine, but timing between courses arriving and then dessert (waited over 1 hour for them to cook crepes). We felt like the "invisible" people and our kids were incredibly well behaved and more patient or asleep in our laps than we were feeling. Our bill averaged at $150 per person for 5 adults and we had to basically track down our waitresses to get any update on when our meals, courses, drinks coming.
We had party of 10 younger couples come in and they were hour after us and left 45 minutes before us, what did they do that we didn't do? I certainly would not recommend this as family friendly restaurant and wouldn't recommend it for anyone. The location is beautiful, interior is well executed, food was ok, but exceptional but the basic lack of service and regard for your customers was jaw droppingly bad! Do not go here, unless you are desparate for teppanyaki.

Came here with a Spreets voucher for the "Ultimate Teppanyaki Experience", $69 each instead of $145, and overall impressed.
Attendance at the front counter was rather lacking, with no maitre d' or waitstaff manning reception to the entrance on the teppanyaki side. Combined with the poor line-of-sight to the dining area, we witnessed one customer walk out after more than 5 minutes of waiting for attention. However, we personally had no problems.
Service was slightly sporadic, with few floor staff to accommodate for the number of customers that night. However, there were no specific complaints or issues and queries, drinks orders and follow-up were all attended to.
Food was well-cooked (the wagu was particularly perfectly cooked to order) and dishes were well-timed. All ingredients were superbly fresh.
The ambience is quite nice, and advertising the theatrical aspect of teppanyaki was very much welcome and kept us entertained, although it seemed that some chefs had significantly more flair than others. The waitstaff on our visits to this restaurant and the neighbouring Kobe Jones have always been dressed slightly more scantily for fine dining, with one lady nearly popping out of her top every time she leaned down to take orders.
We thought this was still expensive per head even with the vouchers, although for the location and considering the prices of the restaurant right next door, probably reasonable. However, paying full price for the menu would have to be reserved for someone very special, without going to a "true" fine dining restaurant.

I came to Wharf Teppanyaki with the Spreets Voucher $90 for the $180 Lobster and Wagyu. I went on a quiet Tuesday night and so the service was attentive and the crowds manageable.
The decor inside the restaurant is beautiful. I admit to also doing toilet inspections whenever I go out to eat and even they were alright. There was a mild wait inbetween dishes, and I admit there were periods where I wished I had a bit more food on my plate, but by the end of the night I was satisfied and full.
I don't think I would pay $180 for the Teppanyaki, considering there are heaps of other places where you could eat about the same amount for a lot less, but it was a treat for me, who usually doesn't spend more than $25 - $40 for a night out for dinner.

The service was poor, food are slow. We spent 3 hours for dinner on a week night ( only have 2 chefs serving for 17 peoples). Won't going back again even u pay me.

The food was good. A wait between courses and the service could be friendlier. A bit on the high end pricewise.

Also went due to Spreets Voucher. Agree with other reviewers that wait staff are pretentious and condescending. However, I did not suffer any problems with there being a long wait between courses, suspect that was a one off problem. For $90 pp it is acceptable, but I rated value based on list price. For $180, that would be the worse value teppanyaki ever.
Food quite average, compared say the teppanyaki at Crown Casino, which is cheaper. The expensive courses of lobster and Wagyu were both average, especially the wagyu. I'm not sure if it was really grade 5 to be honest, the wagyu I get at the butchers is usually a lot better.
I would pay around $70 for this course I guess, but not more and its cos I really like teppanyaki and there aren't any good ones in Sydney.

Went here with a Spreets coupon and would not go back unless you paid me. There were two chefs for a full teppanyaki grill and it took us one hour to get our appetizers and another 40 minutes after that for our drinks. We saw two couples walk out before even getting a main as the wait was ridiculous and another refuse to pay because of the poor service.
On top of that the senior staff was pretentious and condescending and ignored us when we asked for our drinks. The food was nice but was spoilt by the service. I do not recommend going here, even with a discount coupon. If I had paid full price I definitely would have asked for my money back or left without paying.
