I recently visited this restaurant with my wife and we had a wonderful experience.

The service was fantastic. Our waiter was an American called Jack who was very friendly and made us feel valued customers. He told us the specials and also gave us some recommendations on the food and wine.

All the food was nicely presented and the flavours in the food were amazing. I had the Louisina chicken which is their speciality and I can see why, it's the best chicken dish I have ever had. My wife had calamari and she also said it was the best she has had.

I will now be booking my birthday there and inviting my friends and family to enjoy the experience of Wet Paint. I just hope the American guy Jack will be our waiter again. Also the rocket and Parmesan salad was really nice and complimented the mains well.

The steamed mussels were fabulous, and duck a l'orange was very good (I would have liked the orange flavour a touch stronger). The missus said her garlic prawns were yummy.

The restaurant was a bit noisy (hey, it was a Friday night) and the staff had a little difficulty getting to our table, a bit crowded. Overall a really good night out.

Our first time at this restaurant, suggested by our friends who have just moved into Bronte.

For starters, the mussels were very nice and Vegetarian Hors d' oeuvres was delicious except for the falafel accompaniment which was dry and tasteless.
For our mains, the Atlantic salmon was nice but my wife blames herself for ordering something she can, and does, cook at home. Her opinion was "nice but nothing special". My Duck Linguini was excellent. The duck meat had been de-boned and skinless.

We shared a sorbet for dessert which was quite good and had a taste of our friend’s ice cream (a side to her brulee) was terrific. Their wine list starts around $40.

There were 3 disappointments on the night, the poor falafel, the very, very noisy atmosphere and the corkage at $4.50 p.p. - seriously! $18 for 4 to share one bottle of wine? It’s a rort that, unfortunately, is becoming more common and something we, as light to moderate drinkers, often check before booking a restaurant.

However, Wet Paint's meals and service were very good and the average cost for our group of 5 was $60 p.p. which was about on par for value.

I have been to Wet Paint 4 times now and they just never seem to get it right. We started with mussels and the scallops special both of which were very enjoyable. Then we moved on to mains of barramundi and beed pie. Both were very nice.

Dessert is where all went wrong. My chocolate fondant was burnt and dry and my friend's chocolate and pecan tart was so hard he couldn't eat it. Waiting staff noticed there was a problem and when we explained they responded by saying the tart would melt we just had to wait and that they were terribly sorry about my fondant and that was it. No offer of a replacement or refund. It ruined the evening. Something like this happens everytime we go to Wet Paint and at this stage I am over it.

Nothing like a pleasant stroll on a fine summer evening to prepare ourselves for dinner at a not yet tried restaurant. The place looks good; staff are friendly and efficient. We started with the antipasti selection. The olives were good (although the green ones were not quite as spectacular as those at La Laconda, just across the street), other items very tasty. MM chose the eye fillet - a generous serve, perfectly cooked and presented. I had the mixed mushroom gnocchi, also excellent and very filling. The wine list is good, although a wider selection of wines by the glass would be nice.

We've eaten as a family at Wet Paint a number of times as we live a stones throw away. Reluctant to go back any more as they haven't cottoned on to the fact that a lot of families with young ones want to eat around 6 and be out by 7.30 and there is no kids menu/meals! If they had a kids menu they'd be full between 6 and 7 and then can easily fit 2-3 covers. Anyway, hope go see some kids meals go on the menu before we go back again with kids. Otherwise reasonably good.

Great little restaurant. Glad my decision to go there wasn't swayed by negative reviews on here. It is nosier than most restaurants, and yes a little tight on space. But I found both of these added to the ambience.

Food was good, generous sized servings. I can't vouch for the rest of the menu, but I am returning next week so I will be better placed to see for myself if everything tastes the same. On that note, isn't that the point of eating a certain cuisine, that it all has a certain 'flavour'?

I took the family to Wet Paint again on 14th June 2011, a Wednesday night so there were not many patrons. As always the waiters were so friendly, attentive, professional and discrete, constantly topping up our water and wine glasses and courageously asking how everything was. We all had starters, mains and desserts and every dish was delicious. The pricey wine list offers a wide selection from Australian and French vinyards.

Unfortunately, there were no reds from the Hunter region, my favourite. It was nice to be able to chat as the ambient noise was low on this Wednesday evening. I am delighted that we have such a wonderful restaurant within walking distance of our home.

I have to agree with the last few reviews. We've tried Wet Paint three times now and have come away feeling disappointed. The restaurant has a nice feel and we've been happy enough with service, but every meal seems to have cajun spices, no matter what you order and its not cheap. I think its trading on a past reputation.

I was taken to this restaurant for my birthday by my partners Mother so I didn't want to complain while we were there as she seemed to be enjoying it, but everything I tasted was absolutely terrible.

The crab cakes had huge chunks of potato not crab in them and my main of Dory fillets was swamped with a sea of vinegar and priced at a whopping $30 totally disgusting. I've had better meals at my local RSL for a fraction of the price. It's no wonder they don't have an email address as their inbox would be full of complaints every day!
