Went for a Saturday brunch. Lovely spot, food wasn't too bad, but just completely disorganised and very poor service. Took a long time for the food to come out, in the right order. Have been a few times and the comments are consistent with all previous visits. Such a shame from a spot that should offer a decent alternative in Watsons Bay, but doesn't.
The Watsons Bay Tea Gardens is my family's favourite place to enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxing and beautiful surrounding. The new owners who I believe took over 2 years ago have done a wonderful job bringing the restaurant back to life which has in return given back to the community of Watsons Bay an enjoyable and child friendly cafe to visit time and time again.
Whether you are catching up with a friend, having lunch with the family or taking the kids down for a Baby Cino while they are sure to amuse themselves, I highly recommend it!
Despite the gorgeous spot, the service left a lot to be desired. To begin with, after having waited close to half an hour for our meals and noticing that tables who had ordered after us had received food, we enquired as to how much longer it would take. We were informed politely by a waitress that all customers who had ordered entrees were being served first. We understood that being Mothers' Day allowances had to be made.
Following another 15 minutes with still no sign of our orders, upon further enquiry a waiter explained our orders were only 4th in the queue. We were then suddenly reprimanded by a woman who seemed to be in charge, rudely (and loudly) claiming we had only been waiting 20 minutes and that the other tables had not received their orders, but only their mains. If this were the case fine so be it, but it could have very easily been explained in a more polite and cordial manner.
When the food finally arrived more than an hour after we sat down, it must be said that all but one of the dishes were of a suitable standard and thoroughly enjoyed. The damage done to the experience by the inappropriate customer service from the head staff member, however, was beyond repair. Let it be noted that the rest of the waiting staff were extremely attentive and cheerful and no complaints could be made about their manner.
Absolutely delightful! Perfect location for outdoor dining. I required a gluten free meal which the waitress said was no problem at all. She had the chef come out to speak to me about my meal prior to its preparation. As well as being gluten free, my meal was delicious. In fact everybody enjoyed their meals, the view and the price. Would recommend to all my friends.
A wonderful spot right at the baths at Watsons Bay. The food used to be good. The food we had was dreadful. Far too much salt in the seafood risotto which had about one prawn cut up into tiny pieces in it. The staff member argued that there was not too much salt in it. She thought it was fine. I love the area but I could not go back again until I was sure that the food had improved drastically. It was very disappointing.
Great view and value not to mention fantastic if you have kids! Quite a full house considering it was a chilly day, we all enjoyed our meals immensely.
