Overview of Waterfront Store/Cafe

This place Waterfront Store/Cafe family owned and run has recently had a big refurbishment and reopened easter weekend 2009. Previously a burger outlet, this eatery has been reincarnated into a up-market cafe combining the unique combination of a in-store boutique bottle shop, here diners have the opportunity of no corkage fees when purchasing liquor, wine and beer at bottle shop prices! All this on a beautiful big outdoor deck overhanging the lovely waterway of Pittwater listening to the water lap up on the shore watching sailboats passing.

We went last night for an early Mothers Day meal and could not fault the food, service or value. All staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great, we particularly liked the Mezze plate and for a main and dessert it was about $30. Although it was dark so we didn't really have a water view it was beautiful looking out across at the lights of Scotland Island. We all felt we would definitely return. Thanks for a great night!

Brilliant location, great service, and the food was excellent. Mary (the owner)was on hand to make sure all patrons were happy and the Maitre D' was just "the best!" Will definitely go back for the Friday night and Saturday night entertainment.

What a shame that such a magnificent view is spoilt by rude and indifferent service, coupled with barely drinkable, lukewarm and flavourless coffee. When the order is incorrectly served, an apology is appropriate, not rudeness!

This is worth a visit just for the location. It's very beautiful and right on the water. We only had afternoon tea type fare so cannot comment about main dishes, but what we had was nice enough. No complaints.

The serving staff spoke almost no English, which was surprising and made things very tricky, but they were as charming and helpful as they could be within that limitation. Oddly, for a high priced venue, customers are required to crowd around the tuck shop counter to order and pay.

The one standout surprise, though, was the incredible rudeness of one man who also served us. He gave the impression of hating his job, his life and, especially, his customers! He was hostile and very rude to a small child for no discernable reason, which positively blew us away. We were talking about that for a week afterwards, instead of about the lovely place!

Went there with the intention of dining in, but the prices put us off (no full table service either) so we settled for takeaway which was less than half the price for similar meals. There are plenty of nice shaded spots beside the water to spread a picnic rug and enjoy the same view while the kids play.

The pizza was delicious and the burgers were ok. The burger buns were Huge and not toasted, and with the fillings a little on the thin side, the amount of bread was overpowering.

Still a nice spot to enjoy ok food.

This place is not one that is easily found nestled in the heart of Pittwater looking out on a spectacular view! The atmosphere of this place is so impressive that I proposed to my girlfriend. What seemed an hour was actually four hours of enjoying one of the best days of fantastic quality food drink and laughter. This place deserves a look as you can only really experience this place until you sit down and take it all in, make sure you have time to stay longer than you plan as you won't want to leave in a hurry!

PS we had a seafood platter to share and a pannacotta each followed by coffee that ended costing me $35 per person. You would need to be ready to spend double that at any other place with this sort of atmosphere! Highly recommend you get to this place.

Worst restaurant I have ever been there. I have travelled the world and eaten at many restaurants in many first and third world countries, and this would have to have had the worst service (rudeness, ignorance and speaking down to) and the most dry, over priced food I have ever had. Just because you are understaffed does not mean that you can service sub standard food or blame the customer. Your staffing issues have nothing to do with a customers desire to eat.

Will never go here again and advise anyone against it.

The restaurant is hidden within the local general store for Scotland Island. You walk through the shop onto a glorious verandah over the water. Great relaxing views, and beautiful ambience. It could have been perfect, and it came close to very good, but somehow missed the mark on multiple levels one recent weekend lunch.

First, you get taken to your table, all very standard, but then you have to go and order your food at the counter. Considering the moderate prices I would have thought that taking orders wouldn't have been such a problem. The food arrived, and in all not bad. Pretty standard burgers, kiddie Spag Bol etc, but not exceptional. We didn't try the pizza, maybe we should have, the range was pretty extensive.

The portions were decent and our younger daughter couldn't finish hers so we asked for a 'doggy bag' - happily provided, but getting us to scrape the food into the container at the table seems a bit rude.

But the venue is so nice. If only there was slightly more attention to detail.

Lunched there in July 20th. The barra berger tasted and smelt of the black flesh associated with mature fish. Barely edible. It cost Nineteen dollars - and the fish and chips is $29! We ate inside and it was very cramped with no view.

What an amazing place to celebrate my 40th birthday. Directly on the water.
The mezze plates for starters were awesome, then we were all able to order from the menu. As my guests and I are always having luncheons we are always on the look out for that special place. We have now found it and certainly recommend it, we will be back.
