Great bistro and fabulous shady beer garden. Nice relaxed atmosphere too.

Although technically in Marrickville, this pub is on the cusp of Enmore and Marrickville. In terms of location, atmosphere and crowd demographics, it's very much a Newtown/Erko/Enmore style of hotel.

This place has good food and the best courtyard/beer garden of any pub I've been to in Newtown, Erko or Enmore. I'm so surprised no one has mentioned it on Eatability before! Very well maintained front bar, combined with an absolutely spendid, and large, courtyard out the back (with plenty of protection from the sun if, like me, you prefer to stay in the shade when sitting outdoors). Great and varied crowd that means everyone can feel at home spending time here. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the courtyard on a Sunday afternoon when we visited; so top marks here for ambience.

The food was good, and reasonably priced. I had the lamb pie, which was nice, albeit not quite gourmand standard (but then this is a pub, not a 5-star restaurant). The Warren View has its own herb garden at the back of the hotel, which no doubt helps with the seasoning of their dishes.

Truly a great find. Try it!
