The only thing going for this place is the location, zero competition in this part of the world at night. Food is ok, service is just plain weird (especially when you get asked about 10 times if you want anything else and do you want to order dessert when you are still eating your mains, just go away!). Just a mediocre experience all round.
I have ordered the same soup as a take away for the past 4 weeks. Each week, I've received attitude on the phone when I've asked for extra tofu. I explained I'm pregnant, and need extra protein, and happy to either pay more or have some noodles taken out. Each time it's been like they are doing me a major favour - in fact one time they said 'oh we'll do it for you this week as an exception'.
Then each time I go to collect my soup there is no spoon. The last 3 weeks I told them it's really hard to drink soup without a spoon, and each time they tell me they will have one next time. I mentioned it again (to the Manager) on Friday, who explained to me that they have a new ordering staff member. When I told him it had been going on for 4 weeks - he said 'yeah' like - 'so what'. If I could make this soup myself there is no way I'd walk back into the Bridge Street restaurant. Definitely not the Wagamama culture that they tried to build. They are letting the chain down there.
At lunch time on a monday, Wagamama was absolutely packed, yet staff were efficient in seating customers and taking orders. Although food is a little pricey, the gyoza were steaming hot and crispy. Although I only ordered an entree and scoop of ice-cream, the staff were friendly nonetheless.
You can't even guarantee your meals will come out together because of the way this place runs. Food average and far too expensive for the 'food court' style experience.
The food here was pretty good. They do a lovely range of fresh juice blends.
But the meals are not at all worth the price they charge. If you can get a special deal or an entertainment voucher or something like that, the value would be reasonable. But the full price really seems a rip off.
The service was excellent and efficient. I appreciated how they were careful to explain that not all of the food our large group ordered would come out together because the food is cooked in different sections of the restaurant. I also really appreciated the fact that we were not hurried by the staff to leave, even after we had finished eating and while there were people waiting for a table.
It looks Japanese, sounds Japanese. Uses Japanese utensils and Japanese waiters hover around. So why is it so unimpressive? In fact it should be treated like a curiosity: observe and laugh from a distance, and make your way to a hole-in-wall sushi train kinda place.
No place to go if you want to experience the real wagamama london feeling. Very indian taste, even if empty the service is pushing.. The kids love it because of the pencils and drawings... But still wagamama.
Luke warm ramen soup with much, too much aldente noodles isn't my cup of tea! I got my drink served to me 10 minutes into my meal (when I specifically asked for it before my meal).. all in all, it's not particularly an enjoyable experience. One thing that is nice is the interior, but shame for the rest.
Having been here several times during lunch, the food has been quite average but the staff are friendly enough. After having them mix up my orders twice, I decided to settle on whatever they had served me. Not particularly a place I would go out of my way for.
