The food here was pretty good. They do a lovely range of fresh juice blends.
But the meals are not at all worth the price they charge. If you can get a special deal or an entertainment voucher or something like that, the value would be reasonable. But the full price really seems a rip off.
The service was excellent and efficient. I appreciated how they were careful to explain that not all of the food our large group ordered would come out together because the food is cooked in different sections of the restaurant. I also really appreciated the fact that we were not hurried by the staff to leave, even after we had finished eating and while there were people waiting for a table.
It looks Japanese, sounds Japanese. Uses Japanese utensils and Japanese waiters hover around. So why is it so unimpressive? In fact it should be treated like a curiosity: observe and laugh from a distance, and make your way to a hole-in-wall sushi train kinda place.
No place to go if you want to experience the real wagamama london feeling. Very indian taste, even if empty the service is pushing.. The kids love it because of the pencils and drawings... But still wagamama.
Luke warm ramen soup with much, too much aldente noodles isn't my cup of tea! I got my drink served to me 10 minutes into my meal (when I specifically asked for it before my meal).. all in all, it's not particularly an enjoyable experience. One thing that is nice is the interior, but shame for the rest.
Having been here several times during lunch, the food has been quite average but the staff are friendly enough. After having them mix up my orders twice, I decided to settle on whatever they had served me. Not particularly a place I would go out of my way for.
Drinks are not even cordial, if you leave them on the table the stuff in the drinks will float to the top and you can see it's 90% water, at least cordial stays mixed and doesn't float. Wholemeal noodles (moyashi soba) look and taste like the Maggi instant ones. Don't expect everything in order, the food just comes out randomly. One time they even forgot someone's mains, they were just left there waiting for a meal that never came.
However, there're things I like about the place. Aroma is nice, they used to pump that smell out and you could smell it across several blocks. I live upstairs from this place and smell it whenever I stick my head out the window. Presentation is nice, when I walk by there're always beautiful people inside the floor to roof glass windows (or maybe they just seat them near the window). Staff are pleasant, the food comes out pretty quick for a restaurant.
Incredibly hit and miss. Staff are friendly when they're quiet, rude when they're busy. Same thing with the food. Sometimes excellent, sometimes nowhere near as good. I love the Yaki Udon dish.
I love this place, reading the reviews I think people misunderstand the point of wagamama, it's meant to be a very informal, casual and fun place to eat - they don't have 'starters' and they bring meals out at different times to promote a 'sharing' attitude. My boyfriend and I went there on a sunday afternoon which is the best time as it was pretty empty, quiet and pleasant.
The food was great, the side dishes were lovely especially the duck gyoza, could eaten a truck load of those! and my main was delicious and quite unique (kare lomen). We ordered dessert but the waiter came straight back and told us their freezer had broke and the ice creams melted, so we had alternatives and he gave us our drinks for free which was great, we didn't mind at all as our desserts were still delicious if not our first choice! (although my boyfriend didn't care for the chocolate wassabi sauce with his mud cake too much). Overall a great, tasty and laid back experience - we're going again this weekend!!
