Just checked out the new WA in east sydney, whilst we were the only people there. The service and freshness of the food was impressive, nice free starters and were happy to oblige when we shared a soup, brought out extra bowls and servers too. I'd recommend the soups or salmon salad - yum.

Love this place. A great local for a quick, tasty and low cost Sunday night meal. The Italian decor is a quirk because the owner loves Italy. I agree with the previous reviewer that the eggplant is a little oily, but for flavoursome food, no fuss, pleasant service, it's great.

Another great meal here recently. Chef needs to lighten up on the oil a bit heavy handed in some dishes ie: the eggplant, yummy but floating in oil. Prices seem to have risen here.

Visited at 8 o'clock on a Sunday night. If someone told me this was an Italian restaurant I would honestly believe them. Of course up until the food arrived. The walls are covered with large posters of various European origins, and most of them about the cycling legends of the past. There's even an old school vespa in one of the corners and a bicycle hanging over the checkout area.

The cooked food we ordered was actually of pretty standard quality, i.e. something you could get at any of the other japanese restaurants in the junction area, and it was priced accordingly. The sushi and sashimi however were similar to something you would get at a food court. The sushi rice was quite bland, and a bit hard on the outside the way rice hardens when it's been left out for a bit too long. The sashimi was relatively fresh although the portions were definitely the smallest I've ever seen in any japanese restaurant before. And don't get me wrong here, the portion size would not matter at all if the quality of the fish was as high as its pricing was.

The service at the restaurant was quite good though and most of the waiting staff was Japanese which helped the atmosphere a bit, but wasn't nearly enough to save it. At the checkout I asked one of the staff if the owner of the restaurant was Italian by any chance and she gave me this bewildered look like I've asked the most ridiculous question. I motioned with my hand towards the italian posters, vespa, bicycle and got a sarcastic, "no they are Japanese".

Great restaurant. We come here often and always leave very glad that we found it. The miso eggplant is great as is the tempura.

Perfect in every way. Seriously delicious food, great ambience, excellent service, was even really impressed with the bathroom! Make sure you book.

A group of us came here for dinner on Friday and luckily I booked a table as most of the tables inside was reserved. (they do have seating in the courtyard at the back but it was a chilly night).

Service was friendly and the food is definitely fresh and their soft shell crab and teriyaki chicken + avocado rolls very tasty, probably one of the better ones I have tasted! This was my second visit and I will definitely like to come back soon! Being BYO is a bonus.

I came here with a couple of friends who have been many times before and I really enjoyed it. We had a sushi and sashimi platter which was really fresh, miso eggplant (sweet) and ginger beef. All were delicious. I can't wait to return.
