I am an Aussie who visits Portugal once a year. I look forward to visiting Verde Minho whenever I can to relive the typical Portuguese atmosphere and traditional food. Service is great. Highly recommend.

Verde Minho is a below par restaurant attempting to serve authentic Portuguese cuisine. As a regular diner of Portuguese food around the Petersham / Syndenham area, I would not go back in a hurry.
The food definitely lack flavour and the seafood is overcooked. A place to avoid if good Portuguese food is your desire!!!!

Absolutely beautiful! Top quality seafood and meat dishes beautifully presented. Lovely desserts we all enjoyed. Had a great fun night with a group of friends. Service was very attentive.

We enjoyed the noisy casual feel of the place. Our 2 year old slept through everything so the chairs couldn't have been too noisy. Service was ok. I really enjoyed the food & yes it's salty, though others at the table didn't deal with the salt as well as I did. Portions were generous and I recommend the Allentigana Pork with clams - they call it something else . Dessert was nothing special but overall very nice.

TERRIBLE. That goes for the food, service and ambience. 4 of us dined there recently 4 entrees 4 mains and 2 deserts cost $185. We did BYO....
The chairs are excruiatingly noisey, akin to nails down a blackboard. The menu somewhat limited mainly for entrees, however typical Portugese suggestions. Mussels overcooked and tough. Garlic prawns rather ordinary, mushrooms probably the better choice.
Main courses all VERY salty, the cod was chewy and bland. The skewerd beef was cooked medium rare as requested but caked with salt and no salad etc for $26. Waitress was extremely rude when a wrong dish was given to us, basically she argued that we ordered it. Bad move lady! Desserts were shared and we need not have bothered!
Please if you enjoy good Portugese go somewhere that deserves your money. Silvas etc.

Average in every way. Go there if you want an average evening. The chairs will drive you nuts.

It was very quiet when we visited - admittedly it was a Tuesday night so the ambience was lacking a bit because of this. The food was delicious and the servings were generous. The menu was extensive with lots of seafood options. Recommend the clams as a starter - very tasty. The beef, chorizo and red capsicum grilled on a skewer for mains was huge and tasted great. Would definitely go back.

This place is wonderful and extremely authentic. Packed full of Portuguese locals and so what if the chairs make a bit of noise - the ambience is lovely. Our waitress was fantastic and it didn't really matter that she only spoke Portuguese - we ended up with all sorts of delicious dishes we wouldn't have tried otherwise! The prawns with almonds (I know it sounds odd) were delicious, nutty, succulent in a light toasted madiera sauce. Check out the speciality meat swords and the house seafood dishes. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore and the bill was still tiny. Oh and the Sangria is delicious!

The floor surface comprises a hard tile. The chairs all have iron legs and the dragging of chairs over the floor creates a deafening sound that makes conversation virtually impossible. The restaurant does not accept any form of credit card.

Verde Minho specialises in food from that Portuguese province. I had a Sunday lunch here of dulcimea veal which was cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce, accompanied by salad, fries and rice. It was delicious, I mopped everything. I only wish the fries had been larger than the shoestring fries they served because I believe thicker fries have more flavour. Together with an imported Portuguese bock beer, I was a happy luncher. It's a bit more upmarket - it has white tablecloths and cutlery laid out. The cuisine is slightly different but also good.
