Eggplant starter was awesome. Four of us enjoyed different main dishes. The plainer rice went well with the meat. Flat beans and rice would be good alone. Meats very tasty. Service friendly and in English. Decor is plain store front, but clean. Will return.

This is one of my favorite restaurant, it serves the best taste of kebabs and chicken barbecue (joojeh), each time we have family get together we will choose here, with friendly service we all feel comfortable and relax. Special for 10 dollars quick lunch, you can't expect more! over worth.

It was my first trip to Auburn eateries and I chose to go here because the wafts of aroma from the kitchen were amazing. Liked the food a lot and freshly baked bread on premises, but felt paid more than the food was worth. The service was not bad.

The second trip made me decide never to return. The service was dismissive and rude and food was just as cold and bland. The eatery would fall into the lower end of ambience (I don’t think this word was even a consideration for this business), presentation etc. it’s not a restaurant.

Great food, friendly staff (although very short staffed), poor ambience (but then it's a typical Chelo kababi, so wasn't expecting anything different). Overall recommend the food but next time might do takeaway!

Solid authentic Persian kebabs with fluffy rice but needs more flavour in the meat (i.e., it's authentic Iranian restaurant quality, not what they'd cook at home).

If you are hungry and you just need to fill your stomach, then this place will do. If you want authentic persian food then this is not the place. It is more like going to your Aunty's house that is a poor cook. You have to eat it and put up with it. But then again, you have to make up your own mind.

This is overall my favorite restaurant to go too. It has excellent food and makes me feel very happy. The people there are very nice and the new manger is very willing to help and always nice to the customer. Overall I loved it and can't wait too go again!

Good reliable persian food in Auburn. It feels like a take away store, as do all the kebab joints in Auburn, so its not exactly out of place in its area. Good decent food at a good price.

I found this restaurant after searching for "Persian" food on this site and decided to give it a go. I wasn't expecting the food to be sitting on display like an Indian takeout, but it looked nice enough so we stayed. They also look like Afghans not Persians but anyway.

Before ordering we asked if one of their meals included a mince kebab stick, she said yes so we went ahead and ordered only to find it was meat cubes. On sensing our displeasure, we were offered a free skewer.

I had the zereshk polo. The rice was quite nice, but the chicken tasted boiled and underdone. They need to use turmeric and onion to kill that chicken odour, which is traditionally done in Persian cooking. The skewers were okay. Still in two minds about going back, the thought of the boiled chicken will probably stop me going back there

For traditional Persian food, go to SHIRAZ PERSIAN RESTAURANT at North Parramatta. The food is much nicer and better quality and the prices are the same.

I just came from Vatan restaurant now. I took with me 2 of my friends and when we ordered food, the senior staff was so nice and he came and said they had just washed the bbq machine (dunno what its called! lol) for tonight, so just the other types of foods (not bbq) are available. Then he nicely said, its alright, if you order and stay I will add all the salads and yoghurt and dressings. We felt this is nice, plus we thought he's being so polite its a bit rude to leave and not order.

Later on, the workers brought the food. We ordered what is called "baghileh" as well as "zereshk". For both plate types, the meat and chicken wasn't cooked properly, and the rice tasted a little old, but its ok overall. Despite all this I would give the food to be fair a 5.

But when it was time to pay, the senior staff was so shifty to leave the restaurant, but he himself ordered the workers to charge us for all the extra dressings and salads etc. In fact he himself, wrote the receipt and then made sure the workers would charge us for all.

I paid the full amount, and I was upset and I told the workers, that this is not fair from the senior staff, and that this is the last time I ever come to Vatan restaurant.
Now I came to the net, and my bad emotional state led me to this site and to write this comment. I mean the amount is nothing to think of and feel saddened by, but the shiftiness is just very unprofessional.

By the way Vatan had 2 shops in Auburn, both in Auburn Road. I would recommend anyone keen on Iranian restaurants to avoid Vatan restaurant, or at least be on the watch for 'secret burglaries' from your pockets while you are being preyed on by the seemingly very humane and nice senior staff!

There are many other Iranian restaurants in Sydney, and in auburn too. I recommend visiting them. Thanks
