Fantastic little hideaway (so don't tell anyone) with the best prawn on sugarcane this side of Hanoi.

We went here last Thursday out of the blue, now I have never eaten Vietnamese before and so I am not sure if is supposed to be so bland.

Food: Fresh but bland ,also we had the chilli and ginger squid which was undercooked so the batter was very doughy.

Ambience: Lovely mum and pop home style restaurant.

Service: Nice young girl serving she was efficient and very helpful.

Value: Excellent value for money $74 for 2 entree's 3 mains and rice ,1 coke and a pot of tea.

I have 4 times to this restaurant and love the chilli squid but we were really disappointed this time, very busy (fri night), poor service even though we had a baby and food quite bland. Not as good as has been.

Yeah the food is fresh and not bad, but I am surprised at the comments of several reviewers that it is authentic. Sadly it is so blanded down for western palates that it's anything but. Please make it spicier and hotter, it's just too bland! But having said that everything else is nice.

We keep coming back here because Uyen offers great value. This is a family affair with the husband in the kitchen and his wife out front. Simple, well-prepared authentic Vietnamese dishes and very friendly gentle service. It's generally packed and bookings are essential. Highly recommended.

The food here is incredibly fresh and deliciously cooked. Most nights it's packed, which is just a testtament to the great quality feed. Very clean and beautiful, simple decor etc. My favourite Vietnamese in Sydney run by very friendly and accommodating owners. Excellent value!

Great home-style food, quality ingredients, generous servings efficient and friendly service, nice cosy atmosphere, and excellent value. After walking past Uyen for some months I always avoided the place because it was filled with non-Asian customers. Was worried it might be like your typical suburban Chinese. How wrong!

Always great, fried rice is amazing with special sweet sausage (large serving is better value with more prawns), beef and blackbean is very light and good meat, great local spot for home cooked food.

We love Vietnamese food and usually check out the likes of Pasteur or Naughty Chef. Our first try of our local Vietnamese and highly disappointed with a very simple dish, Pho. What a shame the meat was overcooked, the noodles were soggy and the flavour was very medicore.

This restaurant was recommended to me when I looking for a place for dinner with a small group. I was charged with finding a place in the East that took reservations, wasn't too noisy, wasn't super-expensive and had a good choice for the vegetarians.

We went here last night and it was wonderful: great food, gracious service, easy to hear each other talk. Everyone loved the food and was impressed with the value. I am looking forward to going back.
