Please make the effort to find this out of the way gem. I love Indian food (proper stuff) and now that Ashiana in North Narrabeen seems to have mysteriously closed, this will have to become my local. Popped in for a quick lunch the other day and was very pleasantly surprised at the sophistication of Urban Tadkha, both in the decor, the menu and most importantly, the food. Only tried a vegetable curry, tandoor fish and paratha, but all were supremely tasty. Home made pickles a bit of a disappointment though - just red onions, but the other sides were a success. Can't wait to go back and have the full evening dining experience. Bit of a suggestion to management. For lunch, could you offer some well-priced lunchtime only specials? It will be hard to convince my friends to come along and order a full meal at night-time prices. It's a great way to introduce people to your fantastic restaurant, and will encourage them to come back for the full experience. Hope this place does really well and thrives in this hard to find locale.

If Dimpi made a deliberate decision to move his restaurant from Turrumurra to Terrey Hills and change the name from Magic Curries to Urban Tadka he was ill advised in my view as I far preferred the old restaurant location and food. He's dropped some of his best Magic Curries dishes such as the wade array of tandoori mains and entrees and the quality of the remaining standard curries we had left a lot to be desired and not up to his usual standards so maybe the Turrumurra cook(s) have either moved on or were having an off night.
The location is romantic if a little remote for most Sydneysiders and the restaurant itself is cutting edge style personified (if a little noisy due to the hard flooring) and on a par with anything you'd expect to find in a 5-star hotel, but these qualities are I'm afraid not enough to save it, and the prices have increased and there was no evidence of the famous buy-one-entree-and-main-and-get-the-other-main-free-if-you-also-order-an-entree deal so loved by his Turrumurra patrons.
If he had no choice in the name change or new location Dimpi needs to have a good think about getting the food up to scratch but he's a resourceful guy so I know he can do it!

I remain highly impressed with this new, trendy & upmarket indian fare who has now become our favourite local joint. The food so very fantastic as always, service very attentive and the owners very stylish and having A -Z knowledge of there products to offer. Every detail has been looked into in terms of ambience and presentation. I would like to congratulate the entire team of urban tadka for putting up this great joint together. Keep up the good work guys.

This is a fine dining establishment for Indian cuisine. The room is contemporary. Service was slightly disorganised to commence with, as we were told that they were heavily booked during the phone call to make the dinner reservation. This wasn't so apparent during the duration of the meal. However, the service was Ok during the meal, although they could be warmer and more gracious I think.
Food is of a higher quality and more varied than the usual Indian fare, however, I didn't see tapas items on the menu, though advertised as per the website menu. Since the food won us over we will come back again.

Came here in a group of 8 and had one of the banquettes and thougth it was great that we could choose the mains. Every dish was fresh and tasty, this is not the usual spodgy indian you get in Australia - I am glad to have made this discovery and I'll be back. The only sour taste left was the owner quite rudely accusing us of underpaying - after he'd already put the cash from the folder into his till. Apart from him the service was friendly.

We tried this restaurant last Friday night. It was easy to get a booking at short notice though we had previously attempted to book on a Saturday evening but were turned away due to a group booking. There is a friendly ambience on entering the restaurant with warm decor and friendly attentive staff.
The menu is varied and has a range of different choices not seen in other Indian restaurants on the northern beaches. The staff understand the menu too, I am unable to eat dairy products and they carefully checked all our choices to advise me what to and not to eat. It is BYO although they also sell wine at the restaurant. Watch out for the table tops, there are no tablecloths and the tables are ceramic and fairly slippery, we almost lost a bottle of very nice red!
There are no downsides to the restaurant, only the location. We had decided to leave our car there and taxi home, but after an hour waiting for a taxi we ended up driving home anyway. I recommend either having a designated driver or booking your return trip in advance...or bring a tent to camp out in the substantial car park! We will return.

2 meat eaters, 1 veggie - all very happy with our food and will definitely be back. The best paratha I've had for a while. About time we had another decent Indian on the Northern Beaches!
A wee bit more expensive than most Indian restaurants but the environment is also classier and because of the function room, there were people wearing saris etc - it added to the Indian 'experience'.

Went there last night based on a recommendation. The place is really nicely decorated and I was wowed so perhaps my expectation was higher for the food. The aloo chat was good, tandoori chicken was a bit dry and without the usual mint chutney (just a little bit of it was on the tray more as a garnish). For mains, we had a chicken &spinach curry, Balti ghost (lamb curry), and to be honest I can't remember the other chicken and lamb dishes because they were all written in proper Indian terms. I thought the Balti ghost was supposed to be very spicy but it wasnt.
The service was un-coordinated. So it was annoying to have the same question asked several times while in mid conversation with our friends. The wine glasses are really big. But, ask for a mineral water and you'll see a really really big water glass which is ridiculous, I literally had to hold it with two hands! :) they had a big function in the back room, a wedding reception, but that didn't pose any issues... All in all, might go back in a weekday to try again.

We didn’t know this was the sister restaurant for Curry House in Thornleigh. We ordered some entrees like Aloo Tikki, paneer tikka and aloo chat which all turned out pretty classy and tasty. The mains were delicious too and we couldn’t get over the food when suddenly the owner turned up to greet us and we realised they are the owners of our all-time favourite curry house as well. So undoubtedly, the food had to be finger licking good and so it was! Amazing décor to impress guests too! What else do you need.
