Absolutely the most disappointing meal I have had in a long time. People have said this place it excellent so my Fiance decided to take me there for a surprise for our 3 year anniversary.

It took at least 5 minutes to be even noticed we were there to get a seat. Then we were told it was fully booked and had to sit at the window. We did. It then took about 20 minutes before they even gave us any kind of service. During this time, 2 ladies walked in to eat. They attended them straight away. They did not have a booking and were sat at a propper table. Fully booked eh?

Finally after about 20 minutes, our order was taken. Everything I wanted on the menu, they did not have. No mushrooms? No pork knuckle? 9.50 for a bottled beer? Are they serious? I resorted to a schnitzel.

It took about another 15 minutes to get our drinks. 5 minutes later the 2 ladies got up and walked out as it was now about 20 minutes they had been there and still had not had their order taken.

2 other people who were sitting next to us had just finised and went to pay. The staff were arguing with them over the price. The staff had failed to tell them that the sauce was $4 extra! Seriously, a Schnitzel should come with the sauce that is listed on the menu. Not $4 extra. They then stormed off.

We finally received our drinks. The waiter then said he will get us some cutlery. He walked off and came back with entrees then walked off. Still we had nothing to eat with. We had to get the cutlery ourself. The entree was nice. So we thought ok, service is disappointing but the food is good.

Well this view soon changed when we received our mains. My Fiance pesto pasta was luke warm. The pasta was not even cooked properly and was the most bland tasting petso pasta I have ever tasted in my life. It was simply horrible. I had a schnitzel. You can't go wrong there, or can you?

It was horrible. The veal was tough. The tomato and onion sauce was like it was tipped out of a can bought from Franklins. There was so much sauce that you could not even taste the veal. The rosti was disgusting. It tasted like the potato was still in the dirt. It was extremely oily and under cooked.

We did not even eat half of our meals before we decided to pay and get out of there but then we were faced with another problem. The machine would work to pay on credit card. After multiple tries, it finally worked. By this time I was furious. The waiter could see it and apologised.

Sorry but not good enough. Do your self a favour. Do not dine here! Go somewhere else at Darlinghurst. This place it utter garbage!

We ate here last night, food was awful, potato burnt, gravy was disgusting and snitzel was oily. Give this place a wide berth, have had much better pub snitzels.

We ate here this evening, and much to our dismay was terrible. The food was cold, much to the waitresses protestations as to the "stove not working" as we were sat by the kitchen (a dreadful table even though we had booked in advance) we saw a can of sauce opened and thrown into a saucepan and then served - cold. We finally received the bill and had been overcharged. My husband went to pay and enquire, he even gave them a chance and asked if was a busy night. The reply was "no - not really". Needless to say we could not get out of Double Bay fast enough and will not be returning to the Schnitzel House. Compaired to Una's on Victoria Road, the Double Bay fare is by far insuperior as are the wait staff.

We were enticed to dine here after purchasing a $19 “Our Deal” voucher. This bought us two plain schnitzels and two glasses of wine. We added a single serving of mushroom sauce, a smoked salmon salad, a serve of herb bread and an imported beer to our order, so that took the total bill up to $45 for two (inc the $19 prepaid voucher.) Excellent value and we enjoyed our evening here.

Although it was midweek we took the precaution of booking ahead which was just as well since it was about three quarters full when we arrived. And despite the fact that we’d booked ahead they still managed to find us the dodgiest table in the house at the back! (This is something that infuriates me about Syd restaurants. You do the right thing and book a few days ahead and instead of giving you a decent table, they always manage to find you the worst. Perhaps the thinking is that they’ll keep the better tables vacant as an inducement to off-the-street diners.) We wouldn’t accept that and insisted on the better table which they eventually agreed to give us. The dodgy table remained empty.

I was surprised that service was so quick, as our sole waitress seemed under pressure with so many tables to look after. But she remained calm, friendly and polite throughout and for that she deserves credit. Perhaps another waitress on duty during busy nights might relieve some of the pressure?

The DB Schnitzel House is a large place divided into two sections: a front and a back. Much better to get a table in the front part which is lighter and you’ll have a pleasant outlook onto the street outside. It’s been cheerfully decked out in North Euro style: lots of wood paneling and green upholstered benches with flags of Euro countries on the walls and the ceilings. Tables are close together but being genteel Double Bay our fellow diners were all quiet and well behaved so acoustics were not a prob. Toilets are right at the back: they’re reasonably clean a and well provisioned. And we were able to find fairly easy parking in nearby Guilfoyle Av.

And the food didn’t disappoint. The herb bread was soft and buttery. Our smoked salmon salad had lashings of genuine salmon neatly sliced up and placed a top a selection of tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce with just a hint of dressing but not so much as to drown it. And the schnitzels were huge, fresh and deliciously tasty. We chose a chicken and veal and added one bowl of mushroom sauce to share between us, which was more than enough. I preferred the veal schnitzel but the chick one went down a treat as well. Look out for any voucher deals: Here they represent excellent value.

We constantly dine here at every chance possible. The food is just great, the service has always been on par and on each occasion have found it to be a memorable experience. On last nights visit we decided that we would just try dessert here for something different (after having been disappointed with dinner by another restaurant in the city). I was recommended the cherry strudel which was just perfect. It was just what we needed and resurrected the night!

We enjoy eating out occasionally at Unas in Double Bay. I love the fried camembert cheese served with salad and cranberry sauce. Its really gooey and yummy. The chicken and veal schnitzels are massive and I always share them with my husband. We order one portion between us as the meals are so huge. The potato rosti is crunchy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside and I always order steamed vegetables of carrots and broccoli on the side to complete the meal.

This is definitely not health food, and I wouldnt say I liked everything I've tried on the menu (the pumpkin soup was horrible and I wouldn't order it again) but for an occasional indulgence to satisfy a quick fried camembert or crispy schnitzel craving, this place is quite good and value for money.

Not veal schnitzel served as ordered. Rosti only half cooked, salad could be improved. Meal not to standard of other Una restaurants

I went to Una's double bay last saturday I was uplifted by the food they serve, they look good and taste excellent and other thing it's really hard to find quick service venue like this they are so quick that food was in the table than the expected time so I recommend anyone to be there coz I wasn't sure of dining there because I saw few awful comment but after being there I felt I made the right decision.

I'm not going to lie. Unas in Double Bay does not come close to Unas in Darlinghurst (the original on victoria st). Though if you're hungry it's a great place to fill your guts at a pretty good price, it's also BYO which always appeals to me.
I went there one night and was seated out the back with a heap of loud kids that were running around the place, though not the staffs fault you would think by the look on my face they might pick that and move me to the front.

Pea and ham soup is really good (consistently) almost as good as grandmas and the veal schnitzel with Jager is my brothers favourite. We go there at least once a month and always leave satisfied but if it's vibe you're after go to the Darlinghurst one, it's always bustling.

Awful! the experience, the food, the service, I can't believe they actually do get customers. We only went there because we live in the area, actually got a bug on my salad and waitress didn't seem impressed, just took it back and brought another one, which I didn't really wanted. My partner's steak was very tough, but believe me when I say tough!

Ignored the whole night, kitchen is opened and the things I saw during preparation, I lost my appetite. If you eat well, do not go to this place, shouldn't even be called Restaurant. Better go across the road to the pub!
