No doubt this is one of the best sushi restaurant in town. Excellent service with outstanding quality of food. Have tasted most of the pink-blue-purple plates and you can keep eating until your pocket runs out. Fish tank is brilliant idea, atmosphere is very relaxing. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. And if you sit close to the chef, they can recommend you their freshly made sushi (taste even better when they are fresh).

This place must be the best kept secret in Sydney! Undoubtedly the best sushi I have had in Australia! The fish tank is a wonderful idea, creating the perfect ambience of calm and relaxation (just what you want after a hard day at work).
The ingredients were the freshest I have tasted and the service excellent. The prices were a little steep for a sushi train but I can't complain because of the outstanding quality of food and the friendly staffers. Absolute divinity!

Really great location for the best sushi train. The atmosphere is really warm and humble and is perfected by the aquarium which is wonderful to look at when you look up from eating. The sushi plates are presented beautifully with very intricate details, that you feel ashamed to eat it because it spoils the chef's work. The hot food and desserts are also extremely tasty. The staff and chef are most friendly and have smiles on their faces. And when enter you are greeted and when you leave you are thanked. A worthwhile experience. Fave Japanese restuarant.

Definitely the best sushi train in town. I thought Makoto is good until I tried Umi Kaiten. Very creative sushi plates, fresh ingredient (eel sushi, scallops, the little prawns sushi were all delightfully tasty - YUM!), good service, something different from your normal sushi train chain... a must try!

I love a good sushi train and I have to say this is one of the best in Sydney. Definitely more of a restaurant atmosphere than most and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. To top it all off, they have a huge selection of tasty and fresh sushi. The hot dishes are also worth trying - especially the tempura zuchini flower special and of course the karage.

When my friends say "Makoto" is good...I'll say "NAH...you should try the one back there behind capitol square." I've been there since it was just opened, before there's only a few people that knows the place...but now..trust me..if you don't have to queue before you eat, you should try buying lotto on the same day, you might win..(what I mean is..you must be a very lucky person). Just writing this comment makes me wanna go back there again. The wait on the queue is worth it!

I think I have finally found the "sushi train" in Australia that actually tastes like real sushi that you get in Japan. The only gripe I have is that in Japan (of course!) that sort of dining is much cheaper. But hey, whose complaining when you can get something that goooood! By the way, I'm Japanese so I know what I"m talking about. If you want "real" sushi, I really suggest you try this place!!

Went here a few weekends ago and tried the lunch set menu. I ordered Kara Age set menu and it came with Bonito soup udon and two sushi plates of your choice for $12. What a good value! Soft Shell Crab roll was delightful!
I'd recommend Green Tea creme brulee for dessert, although they have other kinds of dessert like Green Tea Cheesecake (would definitely try that next time!)
Would definitely go there again!!

Finally a sushi train that I like! Although a bit pricey, the food was delicious and the selection far more interesting than your average sushi train. The service was friendly, my tea cup constantly refilled, and it was great sitting right in front of the chefs, watching them do their magic (eg. cooking thin strips of beef with a blowtorch!). Will definitely go again.

Having eaten at many Japanese restaurants my experiences at Umi Kaiten lead me to suggest that it is one of the best sushi restaurants in Sydney. I've eaten there several times and enjoy the friendly and professional service, outstanding fresh ingredients, and inventive well prepared sushi plates they offer. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.
