Good variety, and if you don't see something you like, just order it and it will arrive promptly and with a smile. Drinks service can be a bit hit and miss, so keep in mind that shyness will get you nowhere.
Again, raising your hand for service is all that's required. The only downside in my books is the proximity to the sushi chefs. Not so much because I don't enjoy the friendly banter, or the spectacle of their work, but because being a witness to the waste (both food and water), and their sometimes unhygienic practices can ruin the fun. Overall a good, quick, tasty and convenient lunch stop.

It was Ok, but in my opinion doesn't have as much an exciting variety as other sushi trains.

I have been going to Umi for a few years now, and have always had a consistently good experience here.
Good sushi is all about the quality and variety of the fish and this place ticks both boxes. I love their Bonito Nigiri when they have it available. They also have a monthly special, like a chefs special which is well worth trying out.
My favorite thing to get from here is Salmon Gunkan with black fish eggs on top. The combination of warm salmon wrapped in rice with mayo holding the cold black eggs on top is a wonderful taste sensation. You'll have to ask for it though as they generally have the green or orange fish egg variants out instead.
Go on Monday and Tuesday if you want cheap plates as they are all $3.50 during dinner time. The Sashimi and some other fusion plates are $4, still good instead of paying full price.

Every time I pass this restaurant, I have to go in. The staff are nice and always seem to be wherever they are required. The food is delicious, fresh and excellently plated. This price of the food, dishes on the 'train' and on the menu are not costly, much better value than some other sushi bars I have been to.
To top it off, there's a giant fish tank in the middle! Great restaurant, great atmosphere and awesome food.

This is my favourite sushi train of all time. It has the best tasting dishes. Interesting combination of flavours that come out of the most unexpected ingredients. It has a good variety and is very modern in my opinion. and I love that there is a giant fish tank in the middle of the restaurant! Service here was amazing, the chefs are always friendly and happy to help.
Favourite dishes: wagyu beef steak, umi style, lotus chips, takoyaki, grilled cheese oyster, and many from the train that I don't know the names of. I believe it is a must try sushi train!

Stopped here on a Saturday for a quick bite to eat before a big day of shopping, we were seated promptly as the place was half full (a bit unusual for this time of day), the staff helped us into our seats as the stools were very heavy but there was a place underneath the seat for me to put my bag, so that was a plus!
The food on the carousel looked fresh but not a lot of variety in my opinion, we tried to order some dishes off the menu but they were not available, which is somewhat stupid since they are on the menu. Besides this the food we had was alright, nothing spectacular compared to other sushi trains.

Came here last Saturday night before 6 pm. It was not packed (perhaps, due to the 40 degree heat wave). The waiters were friendly, you sit on the chair and they push you in! (the seats are too heavy otherwise).
We ordered most of our dishes since the train did not have many plates on it. Most of the plates ordered were nice (seared kingfish, sashimi, soft shell crab, Eel, Katsu Eggplant and more). The one that stood out for me was the seared Salmon belly which just happened to be freshly made. My BF complimented the Tuna. I was a tad disappointed with the seared scallop because it wasn't big enough or seared enough.
We had in total 11 plates and drinks (approx $42 with the Entertainment voucher). Obviously this was really good value for money, even without the voucher we will come again if we are within the vicinity.

My Favourite sushi bar. The service is absolutely amazing and I've been going back again and again., so much so that the chefs recognise me. The chefs are super friendly (special shoutout to John!) and very attentive to your needs. The food is extremely yummy and loads of variety. It's not expensive for the amount of variety you get because at other sushi bars its just the same thing day in day out. They're Always reinventing their dishes and their apple cocktail is amazing! Also love Ladies Night.

We used to like this place when it was just opened. The portion is big and the design was good. It is creative to put a fish tank as a deco.
However, the recent visit we were a bit disappointed. We can see the mess inside of the counter, it was not too hygienic. One of the kitchen staff was pulling the garbage bin but I don't really see him washing his hands afterwards? We felt a bit turn off and won't go back again.
