    An authentic Japanese restaurant, tucked away in the back streets of Surry Hills, with a twist of western culture. The service at Uchi Lounge is great, very friendly and very efficient.

    One disadvantage is that you can't purchase alcoholic beverages from your dinner table, you have to go downstairs and purchase your drinks from the bar. Also, the meal portions aren't that big, more suited to the girls with small appetites, although presentation is exquisite!

    If your main meal doesn't fill you up, take a look at the desert menu. Let me recommend the White Chocolate Cheesecake! mmmm....

    Teishokya (traditional eatery) dressed up. Interesting decor (typical cool ultramodern Japanese poi), but overall the food was rather uninspiring. Everytime I closed my eyes I would almost expect an obasan to yell out irashaimase'. For anyone who has lived in Japan, you will think is that it? Would be a great way to get a little piece of young funky modern Tokyo over a cocktail and nibbles.

    Great food, quirky downstairs bar (which is for restaurant patrons only) with interesting sake-based cocktails. Dreamy material-swathed upstairs dining room belies the gritty urban setting. Definitely worth a try.

    Terrific food, very innovative, very tasty. A nice experience although we were still a little peckish when we left! A bit pricey!
