Service what service? I can't comment on the food and don't want to after

left a message requesting to make a booking for the following day 7.30pm. I left my details and requested they call if there was a problem. Turned up at 7.35pm to find the place empty, I was told they were fully booked from 8.30pm and they couldn't accommodate us. Yes they had my message and it included contact details but "we are fully booked - good bye". We had a fantastic meals down the road with brilliant service!

Oh why didn't I read these reviews before taking a group of colleagues out for a relaxing dinner? They got the booking wrong: set a table for 5 instead of 6 as requested. Table and plates were filthy - covered in grit and grime from the street. Service was slow and charmless. Meals were a) different from and b) more expensive than advertised on their website. And awful. Undercooked chicken; overcooked fish (with 2 hideous sauces). We were "treated" to complimentary coffee and a slice of Sara Lee carrot cake! Altogether a dreadful and expensive meal.

Worst experience I've ever had! I had a function there, we arrived at 7pm and didn't receive our main meal until 10pm! The food was awful, the room was hot, the service was atrocious - one waiter for 30 people. The worst part is they didn't even apologise for ruining our event.

Food is very average. Overpriced by at least 30%. Mains took more than an hour to arrive. Verdict - there are better restaurants in Sydney to spend $65.00 per person for two courses without wine.

Absolutely REVOLTING - since it changed hands!! Where shall I begin? Firstly, the smoked trout was not smoked trout but substituted smoked salmon - as if we wouldn't know! The scallops with chorizo sausage and potato puree was tasteless and the scallops were undercooked. The so-called "lamb rump with baby beets and fetta" looked like an RSL meal. It was a piece of dried up old mutton with TINNED beetroots and not a piece of fetta in sight. I sent it back. They offered me the chicken which finally arrived after everyone at the table had finished their mediocre meals. The chicken was dry and tasteless and as for the "black truffles" - once you have truffles you never forget the aroma - there was not a hint of truffle in this dish!

We enquired as to what truffles they used.... the waiter returned to the table saying the chef had left for the evening. After further prompting he returned with a bottle of OLIVE OIL "infused with truffles". So that's what you get for $34 - not even a shaving of a real truffle!!

We didn't bother with dessert. We saw tarts come out where the pastry looked raw. It appears the new owners are keeping the old menu and prices but substituting with inferior produce. The restaurant is atrocious and we will never return. Strangely enough, where it was once booked out on a Saturday night, last Saturday it was closed. Our money would have been better spent at the wonderful Pello down the road!

I went here with a group of friends for a birthday dinner. We managed to get a room to ourselves in the upstairs seating area due to the large numbers in attendance which was nice. The food was ok, nothing special. It was well priced for what it was. There was nothing stand out about anything we had despite the rave reviews I have read.

After seeing good review on it, I thought it would be a nice place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. When we arrived our table has already been given to another couple. They offered to put a table in the entrance hall for us, and for anyone who has been there, it was extremely small. Of course, we declined and went to the pub accross the road. Twenty minutes later, we were finally given a table.

The service was slow and the waiters impolite. When the food finally arrived, apart from the appealing presentation, the portions were minuscule and lacking in flavour. The dessert tasted like burnt chocolate. It was incredibly disappointing. What should have been a great night out turned 'sour'. We will not be going there again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Upon arrival we were seated and given menus but then waited over 10 minutes for any further service, with only 3 other tables seated. The beetroot soup was served hot and the mains were bland. Chicken with truffle butter had no truffle flavour whatsoever. Then waited 15 mins for main plates to be taken away and another 15 to get the bill. We were charged for a full glass of pinot even though only given a half glass as it was the end of the last bottle they had. Overall, poor value for money.

We made a reservation for 8pm and when we arrived, there were two large parties of 12 (taking up more than 3/4 of the total capacity of the restaurant), and a couple of other small tables. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table without delay. Our orders were taken without fuss by the polite and friendly guy who met us at the door.

We chose the tasting platter to share as a starter and I chose the confit of duck while my partner had the venison. The wine arrived promptly and the starter arrived in an acceptable timeframe. The chicken component of the tasting platter was fantastic, as was the salmon.

The mains arrived with perfect timing which was commendable considering the number of people from the two large tables who had obviously ordered around the same time. The presentation of both mains was very good and the duck was the tenderest, tastiest I have ever had - after all, it had been cooked for eight hours! The venison was also very tender and cooked perfectly. The rhubarb was a great compliment to the lentils served with the venison.

As I was almost finished the main, the waitress asked if we wanted any pepper with our.. "leftovers". This brought a giggle from her and us. I think this was delghtful, as the meals were so perfectly balanced that one didn't need pepper.

We skipped dessert and the payment process was as efficient and friendly as the rest of the proceedings, so there is no doubt that we will be back. Definitely recommended.

The food was bland. I had lamb with cous cous and the lamb and sauce was lovely but there was little of it. The cous cous though - absolutely nothing in it! I had to add salt and pepper. The restaurant was very quiet and we felt self conscious. Service was ok.
