We attended a wedding afternoon tea held here on Saturday, and were unimpressed with the service, preparation, and offerings. There were well over 50 people attending yet there was only about 15 chairs haphazardly placed on the lawn. The 4 tables were also haphazardly placed and certainly not in keeping with a wedding event. The tea was tepid, and the staff disinterested. I feel very sorry for the bride's family, who obviously spent a lot of money for this average afternoon tea. Standing for two hours on sloping lawn in wedding heels was not fun. Won't ever go there again.

Stopped in for a late lunch after seeing the Salon Des Refuses. Three of us had the specials, pumpkin and leek soup (with bread, cheese and pickle - a la ploughman lunch), fried ricotta balls with salad and Maggie Beer pate with salad. Delicious. Salads were good with nice variety of ingredients and pleasant dressing. Good coffee and tea, couldn't fit in dessert!

Self serve water is available at counter. Pleasant and slightly quirky staff. Food and drinks arrived on the table without delay. Beautiful day and cafe is a lovely sun-filled room. Would definitely go again.

Went there prior seeingSalon refuse. Salad Nicoise does not have potato salad grated carrot beetroot and any other left over you can find. Half the tables had Reserved on them and when we sat at one, one the wait staff said it was Reserved. When I mentioned that at 1/4 to 2, I thought the people probably were not coming. She said "No its set for tonight". Never again in my book.

A friend and I went to see the "Salon de Refuses" exhibition and decided to have a drink & cake at the cafe. Well we never actually got to consume anything. The cafe was about half full and none of the empty tables were fit for habitation. A couple still had not been cleared and there wasn't one table where the tablecloth wasn't disgustingly stained. I might add that the menus, which we had to get ourselves, were also in poor condition. We decided to simply take the tablecloth away and use the wooden table. Despite sitting at the table closest to the counter, after about 10-15mins no-one had paid any attention to us. We tried to get someone's attention but were told by ea respective waitperson that they were busy and would get back to us. Finally we managed to get hold of someone to take our order. I might add that she had been carrying cleared items at the time and unprofessionally dumped said dirty dishes onto our table for us to enjoy whilst she took our order. When she left we decided that perhaps it might take a while (all the staff seemed to be rushing around but not achieving much) so we tried instead to lean over the counter and ask for some water to drink whilst we were waiting. This request was rudely dismissed with the answer that they were busy and would get water to us when they could. Someone did get water to us but with such ill grace that we left the cafe without waiting for our order to arrive. This was just an appalling mess of a place. Never again.
