We came in group of four. We sat down. And waiters gave us a warm well come and water. We ordered entree and mains. Antipasto was so nice. But my wife was falling in love with mezza plate. For main we ordered eye fillet, black linguni, padrino pizza and chicken risotto. Eye fillet was cooked perfect. And pizza was so light, good and fresh. Risotto and pasta was so delicious. All the portion were generous. Service was excellent. We highly recommended trovata restaurant to anyone who enjoy italian and mediterranean cuisine.
Have been to Trovata many times over the years and it always impresses. A good selection of food all with very distinct flavours, and happy (non rushed) service.
The only thing Trovata is lacking is a little atmosphere. Music would be well received I think, or even changing the layout to include a bar area. Will continue to be my favourite restaurant on Stanley Street.
The bruschetta is one of the best I have ever had and the risotto marinara was fantastic, pizza was light and fresh, lamb was cooked to perfection, but the chicken caeser salad was the only down fall. The interior is quite plain but the food more than makes up for that, and it's good value.
Strayan's comment really made me laugh, we had dinner here tonight (a Sunday night) after the Italian festival and kind of enjoyed the experience. Food was plentiful but a little stodgy, service pretty hopeless (but it had been a busy day so they said) and the house wine was ghastly, some blend that seriously must have been kept on the stove, the heat had just killed whatever had been in the wine originally.
Dessert and coffee were ok. Nothing to rave about but bill was reasonable.
Six of use ate and ate. Food came out neither too slow or too fast, portions were of a good size, and the waitress was always there when we needed her. Sticky date was one of the best. This restaurant strikes a good balance in Stanley street between the cafes and the expensive restaurants. And above all, the place seemed to have an honest and pleasing atmosphere.
I love this place. It's a go to place of mine for friends who visit from out of town. I really enjoy the variety of choices on this menu. The calamari just melts in your mouth, and I love the seafood risotto - it's light and the flavors blend beautifully, best of all the seafood is fresh which is key for any seafood dish to work.
