This is a restaurant local to my boyfriend and I that we've not visited before, we went yesterday for dinner and I'll definitely be going back!
The service was excellent, our waitress (Francesca) was lovely. We shared some bruschetta to start which was very fresh, if anything the bread was slightly overdone but it was nice.
For main I had salmon off the specials that was cooked well and came with mash that was to die for! My boyfriend had stuffed chicken, also off the specials and was equally impressed. The portion sizes were generous.
Overall this is definitely worth a visit and I'll be going back.

Living off Stanley St for 6 months and foolishly it took me to wander into Trovata. I kicked myself once I tasted one of their pizza's. It is the closest thing to an Authentic Italian Pizza with phonemail fresh ingredients! Its amazing value for money as its so reasonably priced.
I highly recommend people to take a wander in as if you're not a pizza lover, there is also amazing other dishes on the menu. My partner had a lovely chicken with a wine, cream and mushroom sauce. I'd go as far as saying Sydney's best Pizza by far!

Arrived and asked for a table for 2, maitre d' or senior staff showed us to a table at the back with convenient view of toilets and spider webs, and I asked if it was BYO, he sneered wine will be ok, last correspondence we had with him, service slow to terrible, mains were cold, absolutely a total let down, first and only visit.
Maitre d'/senior staff clearly was too busy doing whatever to care, that did include blowing his nose profusely and then taking cutlery to another table without washing his hands, not once asked about the meal and after waiting ages had to make a point of asking for the bill, otherwise, we'd still be waiting.

Went with a large group, the pasta dishes were very bland and ordinary. Pizza slightly better but still bland. Were seated in the up stair section of the restaurant and it had no atmosphere. Down stair would have been better, ambience wise.

Live in Canada, but have been going to Travata for about 8 years when in Sydney on business. (have been here about 20 times I think..ha!) I have tried lots of others in town, but this place gives consistently better food and better value. Chef Tom does gourmet presentations on his fare with a gusto. Staff are great also. All around one of the best places for a nice quiet dinner that is top drawer in the whole City.

Lovely venue for a Sunday dinner with friends. Some care has obviousy been taken with the food and the service was faultless;attentive without being intrusive. Ate way too much as a result but loved every minute of it! Our friends all remarked how much they enjoyed the experience also. Great option on a Sunday night when others are closed but would happily go anytime!

In Sydney for afew days on business and visited Trovata as just passing by. A very friendly welcome, the place was packed and given a table at the back of the restaurant but who cares?. Very efficient staff and excellent authentic food served promptly without being rushed. Excellent quality throughout and wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a good trattoria experience at great value in 2011 Sydney!

The absolute worst Italian food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. My wife and I are Italian, so maybe harsher critics than the usual patrons, however I am at a loss to understand how this place is in business. The antipasto plate was straight out of the tin, with a half rotten tomato, and blackened sweet potatoes, though I doubt that was what they started as.
Complimenting that was some aged and shrivelled frittata that was bland and cold, and some ham, which was horrible and looked like spam. Off to a bad start.
Then came the mains. I had the spinach ricotta ravioli. The sauce was actually ok, though they drowned the rest if the dish with it. My wife had the caprese pizza, though it looked like a kindy kids project. The chef accidently forgot to actually cook the pizza, and it came out like dough. It was also very bland and garnished with old and flavourless tomatoes and tasteless cheese. We were horrified!
Thankfully they removed this abomination from the bill, thereby making it a reasonably priced meal and hence why I scored it so high (2 stars) for value.

Hi,
We appreciate that you choose Trovata for your first review (and only as of the 9th Sep 2011) on the eatabiliy website.
We hope the next time you visit the restaurant you'll enjoy the same experience that many of our customers have enjoyed over the last 11 years.
Kind regards,

We went to Trovata for my birthday dinner. Early week they don't sell pizzas which is worth remembering as many people sat down then got up to leave when they realised pizza's were on Friday to Sunday only. We should have followed suit. All I can say is the meal was average. The service was appalling. Whoever the owner is (older man) he had attitude and instead of making us feel like an annoyance he had to serve, he should have been grateful we spent our money there. The food would not have brought us back, but I can say this man is a reason I would recommend everyone walk past this place. He just gave rudeness a new meaning in the dictionary.
Response from Management:
Hi,
We apologise for this experience and we hope you next visit to Trovata would be an enjoyable experience.

A very pleasant surprise from an impromptu visit to Stanley Street last evening. Good food, attentive staff and a nice buzzy atmosphere. Quite well priced too. I'll be back!
