Enjoyable experience with waiters paying good attention to our group. Food is good and in particular all the shellfish offerings. Great location and ambience, a true "Sydney" style Italian restaurant. Service was a smidgeon off the mark, we had to chase up a drink and some utensils. Not a real problem but needs a little more attention. Overall a satisfying experience.
Had a fantastic night here a few weeks ago. Delicious food, lovely ambience and great service. The staff even gave me a delicious surprise dessert for my birthday with the whole restaurant singing 'Happy Birthday'. Couldn't fault this restaurant and will be back again soon.
Outstanding cuisine, friendly, cheerful service and a cozy ambience. The best meal we had during our brief stay in Sydney. While very busy at lunch, it's quiet and relaxing at dinner time.
I used to come regularly and loved this place; the lobster tail fettuccini is fantastic. After being overseas for a year, my boyfriend and I came for Valentines Day, I do not know what has happened since we were away but it was anything but romantic. We had to ask three times for our wine, our food was slammed down and the waiter rudely reached across the table.
Towards the end of the night, the waiters starting swearing at each other across the restaurant (the F word several times), we when we left, we were let out by a guy in stubbies and thongs. We will never ever return.
Invited a few times here for business lunches and had to bring my husband alone. Wasn't let down and enjoyed some really good food especially the scampi and lobster pasta. The service was little slow but was made up by the owner Tony introducing himself and then personally looking after us. Great place and will be back.
The service was like faulty towers. We had some friends from Canada out and took them there. The friend ordered lamb and got veal and the waiter argued with him he ordered veal.. which was not the case and we joked after he first ordered about how good aussie lamb was.. after the main meal all the staff disappeared and seem never to come back.
Had dinner at Tre Scalini last night, food was outstanding. I had calamari (entree) and seafood risotto (main), both were sensational. Service was efficient and very unobtrusive. The ambience is very good, with the restaurant being divided into individual areas. This is not a typical eating barn. Overall, a great eating experience.
Last week we went for dinner at Tre Scalini. We found the service to be friendly. I had scampi and my husband had the risotto marinara, they were both delicious! We had a great night and even got a lemoncello on the house! Surprised to read the last couple of reviews, we heard the owner has just got back from overseas so maybe that has something to do with it?? We will definitely go back again.
We received the bill, we were charged $9.50 for a lemon lime bitters!!!!! It appeared on the bill as a top shelf spirit! We even asked if the lemon lime bitters was the top shelf spirit and they confirmed. Disgraceful! Food was high quality, but too pricey to warrant a return.
Confirmed over the phone that restaurant was open from 5:30 pm. Arrived at 5:45 pm to be told we don't open until 6 pm (even though everyone was hanging around scratching their heads) so the four of us piled into the car for 15 minutes as we didn't fancy influenza from standing around in the pouring rain. The veal arrived 10 minutes before anyone elses meal which helped it maintain the room temperature state that it arrived in.
Seafood risotto was delicious, but I felt pretty guilty enjoying my meal whilst my sister was reluctantly chewing her way through her luke veal like it was a doggy bone. So, re the service: drinks spilt, waiter forgetting to take our order, then tried to take it twice forgetting he had taken it in the first place. We suspect this has something to do with partying at Hugo's till 7 am that morning or something. I give it a generous two for serving us wine, eventually. Not a positive experience, pitty I couldn't bear hanging around for the $16 change, not an intentional tip that's for sure.
