Went here with my friend to catch up over lunch the other a day. We had the Sashimi-Don and was impressed by their generous portions of sashimi in it. They also do great lunch specials. We tried the Udon and Sushi Set for $15 which we had nothing to complain about. Content!

Compared to other Korean/Japanese restaurants in Eastwood this place is quite comfortable and clean, not cramped up and rowdy like many others. Normally have the sashimi and bento box which are ok.

Torin was half decent when it first opened in Eastwood. The seafood was fresh and the dishes were tasty. Not so much the case nowadays. I just wanted a quick lunch and I didn't want anything complex so I ordered Hwae Dup Bap and ended up paying $15.00 for something that was mediocre at best. The condiments were below average and they were very slow to re-fill when asked. It's expensive for what it is and I probably won't be going back again.

Went here last night with a couple of friends. I have to say, initially I was willing to give the place a try even with all the disappointing reviews I'd read. However, I found that sadly, the food lived up to its critiques and I was left with a distinctly dissatisfied feeling. I ordered the bento- a hodgepodge mix of teriyaki chicken, sushi, sashimi and tempura and really, the only decent thing out of my $20 box was the tempura crabstick of all things.

The sushi was dry as likewise was the sashimi (an indication that our fish was far from fresh) and my teriyaki chicken tasted like the chef had tried to season cardboard. Someone else on our table ordered the bulgogi which didn't look too bad and a tonkatsu don which actually wasn't that bad at all, if they had omitted the weird sauce of course. To add insult to injury (the price we had to pay was a little higher than average for lower than average food), our waitress messed up our orders because she spoke very limited English which also wasn't helped by the fact that she didn't bother to write our orders down in the first place, preferring to commit them to memory.

Definitely not coming back and don't recommend this place to anyone who wants a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine.

Food was below par. People at table next to us had the right idea to get obliterated on soju instead of eating the food. Should have read the other reviews before eating at Torin.

Everything about this place is great except for the food. Despite the wait staff's best efforts, the food is expensive and not fresh - critical when your main offerings are seafood. Sushi platter was edible but avoid the fish stew at all costs.

I used to come here for lunch, it's a korean and japanese food. The sashimi always fresh and tempura pretty good. After you have meal here, you will know the food just brillant much better than many japanese management.

This is one of my dad's fave places to eat and it's nearby as well. Personally, I'm not a fan of Korean-Japanese places and even though the complementary side dishes are an added bonus to this place, it's quite average for a Japanese restaurant. I've had better but I guess due to convenience and average price range, it's a hit with my family. The sashimi and sushi's always been fresh and good, though! The water in cups usually taste a bit funny.

My friend take me here for dinner. Everything ok except for food. Taste very bad and not Japanese. Korean trying to make Japanese food never work. Good manner staff, restaurant look good, but just need to change kitchen staff to make food taste better.
