Beautiful outlook up Botany Bay, located on the bay at St George Sailing Club next to Taren Point Bridge. Wide range of food at a reasonable price.
Two rooms available to book weddings/functions, maximum seating 400.

Pretty unorganised bunch to be honest. With the building backing onto Botany Bay and the restaurant having excellent water views there is plenty of scope to make a nice fine dining restaurant here. It's not like there are too many in the area. The room is basically split into two. Those who want the bistro menu and those who want Tony's al la carte menu. Seems a bit strange to set it up that way in my mind. We opted for the al la carte. We had 3 different staff members approach us.
First the lady who showed us to our seats and indicated she would be back soon for our orders, 2nd was the drinks waiter and 3rd was a young man who advised us that the scallops were no longer apart of the seafood platter we had ordered (which we hadn't in fact ordered). We started by ordering our drinks but couldn't add it to our bill, they had to be paid separately.
I ordered the Veal Pescara which was tough and simply boring in regards to flavour. The trio of dips were a nice start to lunch but that's where it finished. With a few drinks I ended up paying $100 for not such a pleasant experience.

Where do I start, food was worse than the food at my Aunts Nursing Home and it was Mothers Day. Firstly the tables were poorly organised with waiters and waitresses not knowing where to take the meals if they could even get past tables. Lucky we noticed and held up our number up to get all our meals and as other tables had to do. The entrees didn’t even have fresh salad on them only limp lettuce and three mains incorrect to the extent that it was not even on the set menu.
We were advised by the embarrassed waiter that there is only one chef and we are busy, I replied of course you are it is Mothers Day and all the clubs and restaurants in Sydney are busy so there should be two chefs at least. The only chef that was on yesterday wasn’t even aware that the Salmon Oscar was on the set menu and not the Thai Salmon as served. After that was over we were hoping that the kitchen would at least get desert to us in a timely fashion considering that all we wanted to do is get out of there after the whole experience but no, our desert turned up half an hour later all with melted ice cream.
As for paying for the bill well we nearly didn’t as after standing at the counter for 5 minutes and watching the a lady plating deserts with the ice cream container lid left on the register I should have just walked away with my money but unfortunately I felt sorry for all the waiters and waitresses who had to serve that day at such a poorly organised restaurant. Food horrible, location and view awesome.
Response from Management:
We apologize for your all problems experienced at Tonys Bayside Restaurant during the Mothers Day service, we don’t go out of our way to give our customers a bad experience. To respond to all points in your review would be quite lengthy to say the least but we would be glad to respond in person if you could spare the time.
Please understand at that time we had only been operating at the sailing club for a few weeks and had new staff that were not as experienced as we would have liked for such a large amount of customers.
We admit a few customers were disappointed with the service on that day, but most understood it was a busy day and as they intended to spend a few hours enjoying Mothers Day they were not in a hurry to leave and had a good day. By far the majority of customers enjoyed the day and we apologize again for the problems you had on that day.
I’m sure if you wish to dine again at Tonys Bayside Restaurant you will enjoy much better service.

I organised a birthday party for 35 guests at this restaurant today and I can highly recommend the staff and their accommodating and friendly service, nothing was too much trouble, the food was scrumptious and I was surprised by the very generous servings. The restaurant sits right over the water and next to the Taren Point Bridge and the view was amazing through the glass floor to ceiling windows that showcased the waterfront setting.
Tony and Helen and their staff worked tirelessly to ensure that our function went smoothly and all our guests, who are very fussy, couldn't speak highly enough of their meal and the friendly service. I will be a return customer and I suggest you do yourself a favour and give Tony's a try. You will not be disappointed with the food and the value for money. Thanks Tony's for a great day.
Maria.
