    I was referred to Tonik Hair by a very good friend who told me about Rachel's (owner) skill at coloring hair. My first appointment was in November 2011 and it took hours to get the old colour out and to re-colour and receive a treatment. Rachel explained the process in detail before I started and continued to update me along the way.

    I was offered tea and coffee and magazines, but the conversation in the salon was more interesting. The banter between the clients and the salon staff was friendly and relax. I am now a regular at the salon and my hair has the best colour and shape it has had in many years.

    I love the atmosphere of the salon. It is an old terrace that has been outfitted tastefully and is very clean. This is a wonderful salon with great staff.

    I'd read the reviews on here before I went to Tonik and I have to say I didn't experience any of the negative things reported here. It just seems that people will take to the internet to rage anonymously if the slightest thing goes wrong, but most good reviews happen offline through word of mouth.

    I had a really great experience. Like most other reviewers I came to Tonik for the first time with a Cudo voucher. Rachel was very lovely and booked me in at the last minute after someone else cancelled. Alecia knew exactly what I wanted, explained everything she was doing and advised me how to best take care of my new colour. Rachel knows how to manage the salon but she's not tyrant. I found her to be really warm and she got on well with both the staff and clients.

    It's not dirty, but it is in an older terrace building which gives the place a nice boutique vibe. I went on a Tuesday morning where there were four staff to about four clients so I wasn't left waiting around at all, and I was frequently asked if I wanted tea, coffee or water. I had a really lovely time and I'll definitely be back.

    I decided to get Baliage, because so many friend of mine have it, so they referred me to the girls at Tonik Hair Body. I must say, I absolutely love my colour, the girls did such a good job, they where so friendly and helpful, and took their time to talk me through everything. I will definitely be going back, I think I have found my new favourite salon!

    I love what Rachel has done with my hair, both the colour and especially the cut. All the girls are friendly and helpful. I have become a regular, and are looking forward to my next appointment :)

    I bought one of the online vouchers and thought I’d give Tonik a go but, unfortunately, it wasn’t the best salon experience I’ve had and won’t be going back.

    In a nutshell, this salon is dirty, messy and very dusty and generally in need of a good clean and some tlc. The aggressive replies from the salon to the feedback reviews really reflect the aggressive attitude and nature of the salon senior staff. She was very rude in my hair consultation which was really uncomfortable and when I spoke, she cut me off and said “let me finish” with a glare. This is not very professional and not my idea of good customer service, I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

    The comment on these reviews about someone leaving the salon happy but then later complaining does not necessary mean this person actually left the salon happy. Like me, I was uncomfortable and would prefer to act as though all is well and leave in the knowledge I never have to go back to Tonik again. Not everyone is going to speak their mind there and then and not everyone wants a second visit to have hair corrected.

    A message to the salon. Remember, most people won’t even bother to write reviews, they just won’t bother coming back. Don’t see bad feedback as something to fight and be angry about, see it as free advice because the customers point of view matters in any business. Think about it, if things were being done right in this salon and all was well, you wouldn’t need to be offering online deals.

    Happy customers will be loyal and keep coming back and if the online deals are to be successful for the salon, first impressions really do count.

    If asking a person "can you let me finish", does this not make you wonder why the question may be asked. What sort of conversation may have been happening here." It's not nice being interrupted is it" obviously not for you to perge above. So I guess this makes me really polite under the circumstances. Customer service we are into but unsavory behaviour by some is something that is intolerable in any work place.

    I was very pleased with my colour and foils today. Like to say big thanks to Alysha and Rachel. Both ladies were very friendly. I was very impressed with the overall salon experience. Walked out with a big smile on my face as one very satisfied customer. Alysha matched my colour perfectly. Loved the organic massage and the moroccan treatment. It was so nice to be pampered and I left everything up to the experts! I have used my Cudo voucher and didn't have any problems booking the appointment. I was very pleased with my hair and will be definitely back! Thanks girls!

    Wow! Tonik certainly have no interest in repairing the bad rep they have! I foolishly purchased a Cudo voucher thinking it was a great deal and a great way to experience a new salon.

    I have been trying to book an appointment for 3 weeks but that seems near impossible. The phone is only ever answered by a machine and I was phoned back once but a very inexperienced and incompetent staff member which really has left me very anxious about this whole experience.

    I desperately want a refund, if trying to book an appointment is this difficult, then surely a cut and colour would be far too big a challenge!

    Seriously Miss Wills has not even been to us yet . We know who she is because we have left messages on her phone the phone tag was unbelievable, she has the option to email us, call us on the mobile that we kept calling her on and the phone during business hours. We are open to 9 two nights a week. Calling on Sunday and Monday outside of business hours you will get a answering machine. Tonik had to resort to text messages to communicate with Miss Wills and phone calls 8:30am to meet her demands Friday nights and Sundays it goes on we were never going to keep Miss Wills happy. If you want an appointment the business hours are above if you leave messages we call you back. We don’t do appointments out of business hours sorry. What can I say another example of this fine site :)

    Very disappointing experience at Tonik. Spent 6 hours at the salon for a colour that doesn't look anything like the picture they showed me. My scalp is very stained from the colour. Very badly managed. I had to blow dry my hair when I got home. Terrible terrible place.

    The senior staff didn't even apologise for making me wait so long. Don't be bought by the award winning sign on the window. Going to the hairdresser's is supposed to be a relaxing experience and you are supposed to walk out feeling beautiful. I walked out irritated and flustered and my hair felt stringing and unfinished.

    We totally agree this girl was meant to be a top colourist from a well known Paddington salon. We have called everybody she had contact with to get them back into the salon was not up to our standard either. She was there just over two days. We are lucky it wasn’t more.

    When I have my hair done, I dedicate the entire day to my hair. I would never rush the staff who are looking after me. The end result is what matters to me. I waited half an hour from my appt. time for them to start. They apologized for the delay. They left me sitting for long periods to answer the phone. You need an answering machine, I don't care. My hair colour is smashing, the texture is silky. I love it. Thats all that matters to me. I am willing to wait, however, long I am made to wait if my hair looks this good after. I'll be back.

I know we are a small boutique salon usually the apprentices grab it but if there at Tafe we really notice how important they are to our small team. I’m so happy that you could give us a good wrap as we do so much great hair if only they all got on and praised us. Let me know next time you are in who you are.     I'm becoming a regular here because I like the results and have found the staff to be great to deal with. I am very happy with the quality of the service and the haircuts. I wish more people took the time like me to offer praise when it's due, I can tell from how active the place is that others also think positively about this salon because they vote with their feet by coming back.
