Treacle pudding. Pannacotta with Passionfruit. Fruit Crumble with icecream. After this closing trifecta of dessert perfection I can't really remember anything else about the restaurant at the Tilbury. Swooning.

Ok, I do remember the peculiar service, do they hire from the back packers up in Kings Cross? But the food was fab, and that's what we were there for. The Tilbury is a fun pub with a very laid back, cruisey (cruising?) vibe, perfect for a Sunday afternoon session on the sofas or the deck. Save the restaurant for special occasions, it has a stitched up formality that sits slighty off with the sunny view to the potted olive trees and it is quite expensive. But those desserts.

The pub on a whole is what you expect of a Sydney inner city renovated pub. It's clean, sterile and charming. But... the bar menu is limited with 4 different types of burgers. The menu is descriptive and what you see is literally what you get. If you're hungry and are looking forward to chomping into a burger after a couple of drinks, well you'll find yourself looking for Harry De Wheels or your nearest kebab shop to fill that $18 hole that the morsel has left behind. No wonder what most of what seemed to be the regular patrons disappeared by 6pm... they went somewhere else to get a meal. All in all... good for a few drinks if you're in to house music then this is the place but if you're into a chilled pub with food then... Keep walking!

I went twice in 2 wks, once upstairs for a burger that I really enjoyed. Then the following week to the restaurant. On a Saturday night, the restaurant was not full at all and if I had have known the price I was about to pay I would have been happier to go down along the Wharf. I am not a wine connoisseur, (though do enjoy a tipple) I wasn't aware this was essentially a wine bar in the guise of a pub! This doubled our dinner bill!

The food was Ok, the service was varied. Some were great, some were verging on beginners. Also packing up a half empty restaurant in a pub at 10pm is a bit rude.

Had a Sunday lunch, we decided on 4 entree - oysters natural, crab salad, beetroot salad, heirloom tomatoes, with potatoes and rocket salad. Food was excellent, potatoes particularly morish. Washed down with a few Punch and Judy beers and very good service. Will go back.

I had the best meal followed by great wine. I had barramundi with scallops and beetroot. What an amazing combination of flavors, eaten on their own or all together. Next time I am in Sydney I will grab all my friends and hopefully have another fantastic meal.

The lunch menu is really nice, but the bar staff at lunch are really terrible. I agree with previous posters that the staff are really bringing the place down. They have decent coffee and a nice selection of lunch meals, but a customer shouldn't be left to stand at the counter for 15 minutes without being acknowledged.

Decided to try the "Threeway Tuesday" special last week for dinner with 3 friends. It was beef night and it was delicious! The matching wines are great (you get around 1.5 glasses).

Overall, we thought it was great value for the quality of food and wine. Will defintely go back for a different meat, maybe the lamb.

Dined there for lunch recently. Wow so much noise! You couldn't hear the person opposite you. Not relaxing at all. Beer prices are way over the top! I pass.

3 people for business lunch after hearing good reports. FIrst thing noticed was the smell of stale beer from the front bar even though the doors were open. Had the oysters and prawn pasta. Oysters ok although didn't taste fresh, however, my colleagues and my pasta was under cooked and over powered by chili although the prawns were tasty. Good service and good pub food at best.

Very noisy, to be expected for Hotel. Some staff very good whilst others had little empathy with the real reason for their existence. Good wine list and excellent food. Not being able to get a coffee at 10:35 pm is unrealistic, Coffee machine is shut down at 10:30 so don't even ask. Could be so much better if they wanted it!
