Wow! What a find in a location that is dominated by cafes where pretentiousness is par for the course. Original in concept, great food, great coffee, and reasonable prices that can be justified.

The salads are absolutely fantastic - they use unique dressings and their ingredients give them a varied range of flavours and textures, all in the one dish. Burgers are great too. The taste is great, and serving sizes are generous. You must try it.

A really great place for coffee and breaky. They have some all time classics like bubble and squeak which is very popular. Some good healthy options too. The atmosphere and Music is great. One of the better cafes around.

Great coffee, the smoothest I have had in Sydney and the "Fancy Pants" bacon and egg sandwich is fantastic.

The short queue to get in on the weekend is worth it. Some of the clientele are trying far too hard to be fashionable, fortunately the service hasn't succumbed to this type of scene, I hope that stays the case as I can't wait to try more of the menu.

A cut above the rest. Tiger Mottle serves up the best breakfast I’ve had in Sydney. Their specials board always has a range of mouth watering treats and breakfast is served all day which is a plus. The omelette of the day never fails to hit the spot with its varied delicious fillings. Atmosphere is warm and homely with old classics like Carrol King playing unobtrusively in the back ground.

A place where you order that second coffee, just because you don’t want to leave. The prices are affordable and the staff are always friendly, no attitude here which is rare these days amongst Sydney’s eastern dwellers.

Tiger Mottle saved Paddington from my never-go-there-for-cafe list: while I have been to a few cafes, they are always busy and unfriendly, some even play pop music where I had to stick earplugs on to avoid. Tiger Mottle on the other hand is intimate, homely and has a great family atmosphere without trying too hard. Turntable is always playing old rock, either bench or tables are well situated to separate noises from outside to people sitting inside; services are quick and friendly, staff are very attentive and smile even during busy hours.

Shop specialty: Maple Mottle is made with perfection, I was amazed at how good it is, and would recommend to everyone I know. Traditionally I only go to coffee wholesalers with freshly roasted beans. For Tiger Mottle, I make an exception and look forward to my next visit.

Went there last saturday for brunch with a bunch of frens. By the time we turned up, it was past 1 pm but brekkie was still served. Coffee was excellent, no question there. My spaghetti with salmon, fried capers, boccoccini etc was very very nice. Highly recommended! A fren had their bubble and squeak and that was apparently very satisfying. I'd skip their salmon benedict, it still can't beat other restaurants.

Revisited Feb 2011 - The place has clearly built up a strong reputation with constant groups of eager Eastern Suburb patrons at the door. Bubble and squeak is still yum! Sloppy joe is not too bad, something different and helped by the wonderful homemade tomato sauce, heady with star anise/clove aromas. Eggs benedict still can't come close to La Petit.

Coffee is very good. Service as well, all smiles despite the warm day and full tables.

I ordered the eye fillet for dinner about a few months ago (when they were still open for dinner). I asked for a medium steak, but it came out really dry and just really not worth the money. Even the $10 rump steak from a pub is better than their eye fillet steak. My partner ordered the pasta, and he wasn't pleased either.

Tiger Mottle is the best local cafe in my area. I go there most mornings for take away coffee, the coffee is superb. Great staff, always so pleased to see you. Great ambience i really can't fault it. I would highly recommend Tiger Mottle to anyone who is looking for excellent quality for good value and lovely, welcoming staff.

Cute little cafe that serves great food with generous portions thats great value for money. I live in a walking distance to Tiger Mottle so I have brought my gfs here for breakfast/lunch. I tend to go a bit later during the day so we don't have to wait for a table and its not so busy.

They have a great range of breakfast foods, salads, sandwiches etc which are simple yet tasty. I love coming here and I will definitely come back to try more dishes on their menu.

Consistently excellent coffee. Great atmosphere. The chef obviously knows what he's doing and the portions are generous. So friendly. A 'home away from home' but don't tell anyone else! The few negative reviews Tiger Mottle has received recently must be based on a single visit. I go there 4 to 5 times a week and am always very happy with the service, food and coffee. Great vinyl is always spinning as well. This place is a Sydney gem. If you want a 0.5 litre coffee in 2 minutes, I hear that Starbucks might be able to help you but are they still in business?
