Sir and M’Lady tried one of those voucher deals – this time from Foodmorning. This one was for Thyme Square Café at Hornsby and was subtlely advertised as: $29 for a Tasting Sensation for two at Thyme Square Cafe! Fresh Sourdough Bread and Tapas Plate for two and dessert pizza plus a bottle of Wine!

The food at Thyme Square Café was excellent – well prepared and well presented. If Sir had added another entrée the quantity may well have been perfect as it seemed like a large meal for one was being shared between two people. However, for $29 the value was impressive and both Sir and M’Lady agreed that they would gladly go back there at normal prices.

We tried this restaurant for the first and last time. The food was not great, and whilst the waiters were friendly, the service was extremely slow. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get our wine glasses initially and over an hour to get our meal. Doesn't leave a great impression.

The food is lovely, have been several times. The pizza is quite average however the salads are really good, as are entries and main courses. Also enjoyed the fresh juice and coffees. My only complaint is the service, absolutely horrible and slow. They hardly pay attention to you and continue to talk amongst themselves. If the staff could improve it would definitely be better, as I had a brunette waiter alongside a blonde waiter, who was quite rude.

Everything was okay until I requested to take away my leftover pizza. We sat there and watched the waiter use his fingers to place our leftover pizza into the plastic container. My boyfriend and I didn't know how to react considering the waiter did this right in front of us. If the waiter can do this in front of us, it makes me wonder what happens in the kitchen.

The only reason we decided to have dinner at this cafe was because I had purchased a food glory voucher - pay $15 for $35 worth of food. We ended up paying $52 after subtracting $35 so it wasn't really much of a saving. We were completely dissatisfied and will never go there again.

Myself and 3 friends went for high tea in the afternoon. The decor is lovely, you forget you're basically bordering the shopping centre. We went with the standard high tea set menu which included chicken and cucumber sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, chocolate dipped strawberries and either unlimited tea or a coffee of our choice.

All the food was very nice. We had mocha's and iced coffee's for our drinks (and although they were more expensive than the basic cappuccino/flat white, we were charged extra (fixed price per person for high tea)). While we had the standard menu, there is a deluxe menu with extra sandwiches and cakes included (although we felt full with what we had). The service was friendly too. Will be back!

I originally only came to Thyme for the coffee, which is by far the best cup going in Hornsby. They have a wonderful Asian Barista preparing their Jack and the Bean blend Tues to Sun. Recently, however, I have been bringing friends and family here for dinner which is a wonderful experience. If your looking for good service and affordability look no further. Thyme hits both nails on the head. I would recommend booking on Friday and Saturday nights as we have not and had to wait to be seated :( Silly mistake not booking. Their downstairs bar does make a good waiting area and they also have a nice selection of local and imported beers. We were offered and had a wonderful tapas plate while we waited. The only criticism that I'll make is that it does get particularly noisy as the bar sections of the restaurant fill, especially downstairs. This only adds to the hustle and bustle atmosphere, but would be a turn off if quiet restaurants are more to your liking.

The food is terrible, we were really disappointed having read such good reviews on this website. We ordered the thyme square pizza which was dry and tasteless - you'd get better from the coles/woolies range. We also tried some other dishes that our friends ordered and they were also pretty bad, particularly the risotto. Avoid at all costs! lots of better dining options in Hornsby. service was good though, but a restaurant cant live by good service alone.

The BLT's delight my palate every time I have one. Try their coffee. It's consistently good,a big plus for a quick lift or to go! Always finish with a cappuccino. Mmmm. Am making my way thru the menu & haven't been disappointed yet. So,it's the way to go. Staff attentive and cheerful- what a difference they make in hospitality.Who did the music compilations? Nice,un-intrusive & relaxing - keep working on it-it's good, like a memorable salad dressing, unites the all elements . Good value. I'm telling my friends.

I really want to like Thyme Square, but they have a staffing problem.
Went with 2 friends and our experience was terrible. The two staff (Young girl and an Asian guy) were both rude to my dining companion. Food was still good (Had the tasting plate and whilst it wasn't hugely generous, the breads were really good), but they sent us cold coffees then got in a huff about fixing it.
Still go there regularly for coffee by my lonesome (although I prefer Toby's coffee to Jack & The Bean's) because it's the best espresso on that side of Hornsby, when the machine is in competent hands.

This place is unrecognisable from a few years ago. The coffee is great, the menu is good upmarket cafe fare, prices are within reason. Some of the waitstaff are great (the owner and a young blonde guy with a beard), some are a bit less so. Free Wifi too, which is nice.
