I used to love this place. I had hoped that when they closed they would re-open again, but have not heard if they have. It was really nice food and friendly service from a husband and wife team.

Like others here I'd heard good things about this restaurant but now wonder whether you have to be a regular to be treated well?
We loved the mixed entree and were looking forward to the mains, lamb with sweet potato mash for him, beef with parsnip mash for me. Now, tell me, which part of the word 'mash' is hard to understand?
Both of ours came out lumpy, my husband's wasn't too bad but mine had whacking great chunks of uncooked parsnip throughout. Parsnip being a very stringy vegetable, this was just unpleasant. Waitress, who had been pretty friendly until faced with a complaint, took it back to the kitchen promising to fix it, then returned, avoiding eye contact, with my now luke-warm beef and a slightly warmed up 'mash' which still had 2cm square lumps throughout. "The chef says it's supposed to be chunky," she said. Not wanting to risk my beef getting any colder I took the food, and tried again. Ugh. When she came back to get the plates she again avoided eye contact and made no comment on the pile of parnsip chunks still left on the plate... And should I mention the bug that fell in my wine glass? Waitress saw me checking out the glass - came to see what was wrong - insisted on taking away my FULL glass and promised to "fix it" again... nothing. No new glass of wine, no further discussion, no adjustment of the bill - I'd have fished out the bug and moved on if she hadn't been so pushy, so why did she then not follow through on "fixing" the problem. Could it have been because she spent most of the night chatting to the three or four tables of regulars?
Good luck to the in-crowd - no matter how divine the goats cheese mousse tasted, we can get great food and pleasant, attentive service in too many other restaurants to bother pouring more money into this one!
Response from Management:
This venue has been sold. The previous owner served this couple and would like to clarify that she did not avoid eye contact with them and that the wine with the fly in it was taken off the bill, and the menu which was quoted was parsnip hash (not mash) which intentionally has large chunks of cooked vegetable.

I'm a regular here and can't recommend it highly enough - the food is amazing, and great value. Even the music is 'just right'!

May partner had wanted to eat here for some time so I took him for Valentine's day. The service was great, all the staff were very well informed and were happy to pair wines to the dishes etc.. The mixed entree to start with was fantastic, and really gave us a chance to sample the different dishes. The mains were a little more disappointing though, with the sauces not really matching the dishes. The seasonal veggies were a little undercooked too. It was great value though, coming in at under $100 for two entrees and mains with one glass of fizz and corkage - it's worth a visit, but I hope they change the sauces accompanying the main dishes soon!

The service we had was very good from the moment we walked in the door until we left. The menu has just been changed and now includes seared scallops to start a prawn dish with chilli oil and a very interesting trio of duck. You also have the option to have a selection from all the starters. The menu has enough variety to prompt a second visit. The pricing of the food is very reasonable for the variety and portion size.

Hadn't been here for about three years and was wondering whether it maintained its high standard. Went on a quiet night, and my pork belly was done to perfection - tender and tasty, the sauce, with beets and a wild mushroom was great. My friend also thought his salmon was perfect. Was very impressed and the service and ambience was lovely.

I have to agree with Ron & Mia's comment - the sauces didn't go with the dishes we had. My entree - prawn & scallop ravioli with a cauliflower puree tasted amazing, like a cheese curd but the sauce!! A sweet thick sauce that tasted like it came out of a bottle and didn't suit the delicate flavours at all.
My patners entree was very good - but his main, pork belly, was dry and the broth was far too salty, tasted like it had extender or powdered stock - this should have just been a reduction of the juices.
Desserts, waitress & everything else was good but unless the chef changes the sauce concept I don't think we'll be back.

Love this. We had a great time I took my mum, dad and a couple of friend - it was sublime. The duck was so good and we will be back in fact we book our Christmas party there.

Went here for one of what appear to be regular wine dinners with friends last Saturday (one every 6 weeks apparently) and sampled some great food and wine from Cargo Road. Had so much fun we went back this weekend to try the full menu and it was fantastic. The duck with Asian Veg was orgasmic and the desserts (when I don't even have a sweet tooth). Must try!
