Lone waitress on a Sunday night were surly and threatened to extend the waiting period before we could order to 40 mins if we complained. Wouldn't let us sit in bistro area because we had not ordered food but also wouldn't take our order for food for 20 mins because they were really busy. We eat here a lot during the rugby season and this was a very disappointing experience. Ended up going elsewhere.
I used to come here all the time before the renovations, and I really loved the old fashioned pub atmosphere. It has gone the way of so many other Sydney pubs, everything is super new and super shiny, not a great deal of real atmosphere. Had Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago, the special grilled fish was beautiful, but my partners steak sandwich was a bit disappointing, tiny piece of steak.
Drinks very reasonably priced when compared to other pubs in the city. Half the price of some of them! Food was okay - a bit exy for bistro stuff though. Staff was wonderful. Shame it's non-smoking now - have to cram into beer garden or outside on the freezing cold street to have a smoke. Other pubs have some indoor smoking still but not this one! Will be ok in summer but is better to stay away in Winter if you want to puff (unless you go into the pokie room). Overall, it is nice place.
