The boathouse is a stunning restaurant, and I was really looking forward to eating here. It was a freezing night and the roaring fire inside was a welcome aspect of the restaurant. Luckily, our table was right next to the fire. I wouldn't want to have been on the other side of the room, it would have been cold. Great in summer.
Carpet wouldn't hurt. If anything, it would make it more comfy and pleasant to look out onto Blackwattle bay.

It was my dads birthday, and when we booked, the guy on the phone asked if it was a special occasion, and hinted that they would prepare something by saying "oh great, we'll see what happens on the night", unfortunately, nothing of the sort took place over the evening. This didn't bother us too much, but was a little irritating. Why hint at a birthday surprise if you are not going to deliver one. A lot of restaurants forget that its often the little things that really completes a sensational restaurant experience.

That aside, we had a fantastic night at the boathouse. The waiter was really nice, providing warm attentive service. I don't want to be a fun police but the waiters occasionally stood together and chatted by the fire which was slightly annoying, but could also be seen as adding to the friendly relaxed environment in the restaurant, as long as they are doing their job this didn't bother me and there's nothing worse than fun police waiters.

The amuse bouche was quite possibly the best thingI have ever eaten, ever. I seem to remember it being some kind of cheese thing. 10/10. We ordered mixed oysters which were out of this world. The vinaigrette provided was slightly overpowering, and the incredible freshness of the oysters essentially meant that they could speak for themselves in their flavour. The vinegarette was a little unnecessary and strong, but was still pretty good.

The oysters were served with fantastic thinly sliced rye bread and crusty, rustic white bread, delicious. The area for cutting the bread is starkly visible when you walk in. Maybe unnecessarily open, as the restaurant itself is glass and very open.
My brother had a crab entree which was supreme.

We ordered two snapper pies between four and a lamb saddle for the mains, as well as a mixed leaf and cress salad, which was great. The snapper pie was great, rustic, simple, delicious. I found the potato mash a touch on the dry side, but was still lovely.

The lamb saddle was great, but left me feeling a little strange, maybe too much oil or something. A delicious, simple souffle rounded off the evening. Delicious. The wine was absolutley fantastic, and the cocktails were fresh and absolutely sensational. $570 for four people isn't cheap but its not outrageous.

Visited Saturday 28-Sept. The inexperience of the wait staff clearly shines through, slow in their service, and were more focused on chatting. We ourselves had noted that the floor was wet and greasy and so very slippery in some areas (in front of the kitchen).

Advice :Spellcheck the menu. Hire happy more efficient waitresses, place someone experienced on the pass so the table is served together and hire a chef who will season the food.

This place is terrific. Beautiful views and awesome service. The food speaks for itself. You cannot go past the snapper pie. I've never had anything like it and ate every single bit of it! For dessert I had a selection of cheeses and they were just lovely. Not cheap, but the standard of this place is worth it!

Have been to this restaurant a couple of times and will go back! The snapper pie lives up to its reputation but is certainly not the only item on the menu to visit for. The service here is wonderful. The waiter we had recommended wines for us to complement our meal and introduced us to what has become our favourite wine!

It is a lovely to have a drink before dinner or a glass of port after dinner. The staff are friendly and helpful. The views are beautiful especially nice at sunset. The food is great. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We have been here quite a few times over the years. The location is great for lunch and dinner with gorgeous views from a beautiful room. It can be a bit noisy, but they have noise baffling in the ceiling to counter the hard-wood floors and glass surroundings.

The service has always been good and unobtrusive. I've tasted the snapper pie before and it's not my sort of main, but it seems to be the favourite menu item, much to the new chef's Chagrin.

My only complaint is about the blinis and trout roe. It's a great entree and looks so appetising. We've tried it from three different chefs, but they all get the blinis wrong. They should be light and airy, more like crepes or pancakes, not heavy stodgy oily lumps. There is so much oil in them (when there shouldn't be much more than that used to lightly grease a hot pan) that I reckon a Big Mac would have less fat. They have such a light deft touch with their seafood that it amazes me that they all get the blinis so wrong.

That said, the trevalla was lovely and I enjoyed the crab ravioli but it wasn't to my dining partner's taste. Overall, it is always a good experience, but find a better blini recipe!

After hearing so much about the famous snapper pie I was looking forward to the Boathouse. Unfortunately as a group of 10 we had to choose from a set menu. The food was extremely disappointing, the flavours were unbalanced and some dishes were extremely bland. The waiter did not appear interested and the bill was astronomical.

Have on a number of times and usually for a special occasion but just felt like a really nice Sunday lunch which we both love to do. Food was of a high standard with great flavours and presentation but tend to think that it is a bit pricey. Special occasion only now.

I went to Boathouse with my wife and must say we had a great time. We ordered their signature dish, the snapper pie which has kept its great consistency. All in all we left happy but it was a little too loud inside for us. Don't let that put you off. Highly recommended.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Nice place to be for the special occasion. Great views too. Ordered an entree of bonito to share and snapper pie and ocean trout for mains with a side of potatoes. Entree portion was bit on the tiny side but the food was excellent. The pie was definitely a standout...and pricey too.

Overall, it was a great experience and the food was great. The waiter was overly attentive though. I definitely recommend this place even though it may be quite pricey. You pay for what you get, I guess.
