We stumbled across this great café during a visit to Whale beach. The Whale Burger was everything a burger should be, fresh, juicy and tasty. The chips were hand cut chips, bringing back nostalgic memories of the days when chips actually tasted like potatoes. The atmosphere was simple, honest and down to earth. This place is definitely worth visiting.
We returned for the third time since April this weekend past. I had the beef burger and he had The Whaley Burger (the lot), so fresh, so tasty. You don't get that greasy burger feeling afterwards, complemented with an organic cola and chips, my mouth is watering right now. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. The salads are also fantastic.
Made the pilgrimage to the Northern Beaches today and decided on this little spot. It used to be Whaley’s and is now an organic café. The sun was shining so we sat in the charming courtyard out the front. It was a little chilly but the café supplies you with a funky blanket which we thought was a lovely personal touch.
You order and pay inside and a waitress brings out your food. We both had burgers- I had lentil, my hubby the beef and hot chocolates to warm ourselves up. The food arrived quickly and in generous proportions. The chips were awesome! Hand cut and delicious. Our burgers were also very nice. Extremely fresh and healthy tasting. We finished off with coffees and just sat back and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.
I have to say I really can’t fault this place. It’s a casual and relaxing eatery where there’s no rush or fuss and it was exactly what we needed. They obviously take pride in their commitment to providing healthy organic food with a friendly smile and they do so with success. I thought the price was on par with the better quality gourmet cafes in Newtown and Glebe, and therefore very reasonable.
I am really looking forward to returning- hopefully for breakfast next time and I’m really excited to go back in Summer and have a good lunch and a swim- gorgeous Whale Beach is just around the corner! A great café.
This is one beautiful cafe. All organic, the most stunning looking poached eggs, delicious coffee and really lovely friendly staff. These guys obviously take great pride in what they do and love giving their customers that yummy foodie experience we all would give our favourite shirts for. I am always prepared to pay more for organic food however the prices here are great. The Olive and Rose promotes eating organic food as both on everyday and a sublime experience.
The decor is really nice - beachy and summer-ish. With light coloured timber it is coffee and newspaper relaxing, and you can come and go to the beach. So don't expect white tablecloths and pomp, this is real living.
I am a great believer that if you either love or hate a dining experience you should tell the restaurant so they know - so my friend and I made sure to tell them that we loved it.
I had the vegetarian breakfast even thought I am not vegetarian and I was so satisfied I did not once yearn for the meat at all. I made sure to say the eggs were perfect and as a special treat my friend and I were treated to a lesson on how to cook the perfect poached egg. I walked away very happy full of brekky food and chomping on a Patten Stick Icecream. Cheers, and thanks guys.
Me and my boyfriend were very impressed by the whole experience. The restaurant was really nice and unique, the atmosphere was relaxed. The staff were friendly. The service was great.
The food was delicious and there was lots of variety in the menu and it's organic. We went for breakfast, and will go for lunch next time. The pricing was very reasonable. We paid about the same at non-organic cafes for breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit. Very happy customers.
Excellent cafe, we drive the 40 minutes specifically to dine there. Fantastic food at very reasonable prices and the staff are brilliant and very friendly! Take a day trip and go for breakfast, corn fritters are to die for, then go down to the beach and when you're done you can come back up for lunch before heading home. Whatever you have for lunch, make sure it comes with chips, you'll see why.
A great little cafe hidden away in Whale Beach, fab environment with superb staff and delicious food. You've got to have the Club Burger with its gorgeous fresh ingredients, and then the Beef Burger (yes I had both, but I did share!) with great quality meat and the most divine onion compote.
Hmmmm I seem to disagree with the reviews so far. We went there on recommendation from SMH, but in reality we found the menu limited (really only burgers as we could see it) and we were situated next to a road. The beef burger tasted of water, the chicken burger had too much garlic, the service was a bit miserable to be honest. Overall wouldn't go back or recommend. Sorry!
Great coffee, probably the best on the Northern Beaches and it's "free trade" coffee (see Oxfam for details on this). The menu includes items suitable (and customised) for the food sensitive, and chef maintains an interesting variety without compromising quality. Service is friendly yet not imposing and the whole team's smiles are sincere. The atmosphere is serene yet lively with the heated cafe overseen by Buddha and the Alfresco area open to Whale Beach fresh air.
