Overview of The Living Room

The Living Room is a casual establishment were you place your order at the bar then it is delivered to your table.

We offer a fantastic $12, $15 & $18 Meal Special that comes with a complimentary drink.

Our regular menu offers steaks, burgers, salads, ribs and fresh fish that are all made to order.


We offer private dining in our lounge room, that’s available for events and parties. Projector, flip charts and microphones are all readily available.

We are open Monday to Friday for lunch with the busiest day Friday where we are often booked out so bookings are preferred. We are open Thursday and Friday for dinner until 10pm with last orders at 9pm.

We have happy hours from 5.30pm to 7.30pm Thursday and Friday.

We are open Saturday nights for booked functions

    We ordered garlic bread, mains and drinks together. After 30 minutes we asked what happened to the drinks and the garlic bread. They arrived after another 15 minutes. The mains started trickling in, with the last main (we were a group of 10) coming in 35 minutes after the first one, i.e. others had already finished.

    The food quality was pretty mediocre. The floor was understaffed with just two waiters, one of which acted like a senior staff but didn't really appear to have a grip on the situation. We were seated right in front of the serving area, which means they passed us all the time while we were waiting for our food but never realized that we had been waiting for so long without drinks or food on the table.


    Response from Management:
    Unfortunately, on this day we were understaffed due to a staff member calling in sick expectantly. While this is no excuse for poor service, we do try our best to keep a high level of quality in our restaurant and have it staffed appropriately. We apologize if on this occasion our customer service was lacking.

    A truly awful experience. I had been to this place a few times over the years and it used to be a high quality restaurant. Not anymore! I booked their private back room for 14 people as a celebration lunch and even called a 2nd time to make sure they had the booking. I was completely disappointed.

    On arrival we were told we didn't have the private room and the senior staff then wanted to argue about it. He even asked me to prove I had booked it! Then after we sat at our table for 30 minutes I asked a waitress if she would take our order and was told we needed to line up at the bar to order food and drinks. Gee thanks, maybe someone could have at least mentioned that to us when we sat down.

    So, all 14 of us lined up at the bar and placed our lunch orders. I then asked the senior staff if he could at least take our drinks order at the table since we didn't get the separate back room we had booked. He agreed and 15 minutes later a reluctant waitress came to the table and fumbled her way through our order for a few bottles of wine and some beers. Over the next 20 minutes or so the wine and beers were brought out to us and eventually the wine glasses too.

    The meals were average. The menu was dumbed down to mainly $10 pub meals. After we finished eating I noticed the 4 waiters and the senior staff all sitting at the bar talking. I asked the senior staff if he could take our order for desserts and he agreed. 10 minutes later I went back to bar where the 5 of them were and asked again he could send somebody over to take our order. He said yes I did ask someone to do it.

    Then another few minutes later when we couldn't stand it any longer I went back to the 5 of them and started to ask why they hadn't taken our order. I decided to let them know how terrible this place had become and how angry we were at the total and complete lack of interest from the senior staff, the waiters, the disappointing food, the filthy bathrooms, and the screw-up with the booking.

    I will never return to this place! It is no longer a restaurant, it is now just a pub. That would be fine, but the fool that is the senior staff is not interested in his customers and just would not take responsibility for anything.

    This Place was poorly organised. Therefore, the staff were unhappy and struggling with an easy group order. We went there 7/12/2011 and they forgot a majority of our orders, were late with orders and the servings were tiny and bad quality. I have had a better eating experience at McDonald's, and Hungary jacks. Two of our guests did not get served until 45-60 minutes after we ordered.

    Just goes to show that places ebb and flow with the times, management and kitchen staff. Used to like this place but it has gone downhill over the past several years. Must be struggling financially as they never have enough staff at lunch and the recent food (last week) was appalling.

    Drink service and food service is in a queue, don't think that you will be served quickly, you won't. $10 meal deal has limited selection and regular menu items are overpriced and under delivered. Only positive is their chips, they are great. The rest, don't waste your time. Table of 5 disappointed and won't return for some time if ever.

    This restaurant is one of the finds of North Sydney, tucked away at the back of the Greenwood, the Living Room was a great place for a Friday corporate lunch. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the food is very nice.

    They have a very good special on at the moment, 50% off the menu price (food only) if your table is seated by 12.15 pm! Don't know how long they will keep this for but it's a bargain. With mains at $26 to $36 the discount makes this a great value option.

    I had soup of the day (potato and chorizo) which was delicious and the rump for main was special. Only comment from the table was that the mash was "a bit plain" but I couldn't fault the food or the service. Will be a regular at this very nice upper scale restaurant.

    The 18th birthday party that we celebrated at the Living Room was a huge success thanks to the Manager and all his staff on the night. Everyone is still talking about what a great night it was and what a great place the living room is. The canapes and the food was excellent and very generous and delicious... No one went hungry. The guys behind the bar did a great job keeping up with the huge drink demand. Service was friendly and fun and fast. My guests loved all the guys that worked that night. They helped create great atmosphere and accommodated everyone. I will definitely be having another function at the Living Room and have highly recommended it to all my friends and family. Thank you very much to the staff for all your efforts and for taking care of us on the night. We really appreciate it and look forward to seeing you sometime soon!

    We stumbled upon the Living Room, hidden on the rooftop of the Greenwood Plaza.
    Perfect spot for a quick, fresh and affordable meal alongside an astounding cocktail.

    The bartenders were more than welcoming and organised our drinks while we waited for our meal to arrive. This is the service that keeps us customers content. Special mention to all the staff there, as they are great! Never had cocktails like the living room does it.

    The living room has clearly become 'our local' in North Sydney, and do recommend this venue to everybody.

    Wow! Decided on this venue for an important lunch between myself and another work colleague, and instantaneously was amazed at the venue.

    Ambience in general, perfect. The right setting for an easy afternoons lunch away from the typical north sydney rush. The bartender working welcomed us with a big grin and greeting, and made a few suggestions with what to order which was great.

    Price was perfect (meal and drink combo), Service (bartenders looked after us and were very friendly). I really felt valued and feel the need to express my gratitude for an amazing lunch. Definitely will be returning and on more of a regular basis.

    Wow I love this place best value for money on food and quick and easy great for a quick lunch and back to work. I love drinking here on Friday nights the barman are lovely and make the best cocktails great way to wind down from a long week at work with work mates and friends and the free yum cha at happy hour what more could you want good service, great value, great cocktails definitely recommended.

    I had lunch here with my boss last year in October and the food, atmosphere and service was lovely. I decided to take my partner here just a few months ago (march), the food was horrible, the chicken was dry the salad was unwashed, I was served the wrong drink and to our shock the wait staff and a kitchen staff had an outrageously loud argument in the kitchen with awful language.

    I would not recommend this cafe now it was a purely unenjoyable experience and some of your staff obviously need be brought up on harrassment in the workplace charges!

    The bartender was rude and arrogant and was seen speaking disrespectfully to other customers which made us feel uncomfortable we had to line up for a long time and other customers that arrived after our group were served before us, food was ok, however, a little overpriced for what it was. Overall very disappointed and will definitely not be returning there. Worst service I have ever experienced.
